Gypsies also play the violin.Especially in Hungary.Django Reinhard became famous for playing the guitar although he had only two fingers.
However greek gypsies steal and are constantly robbed by other gypsies. They even steal electricity from piles and some of them get killed attempting that.

Oh, they're all Indian? I didn't know that.
wow.. seriously?

Umm, seriously. Most of our gypsies over here aren't from India. More like domestic hippies. Ask most Americans what they think a gypsy is and they'll give you a description similar to the one I gave here.

Many gypsies tell your fortune.

They're called gypsies because they try to gyp folks!

I have been observing gypsies lately here in poland and I have to say I am "fascinated" by their laziness, dirtiness, and ummmm uselessness.

I don't see how they contribute to society. I only see them leaching off the state.

They also appear to prefer to beg all day long then actually work. They don't like to go to school - most stop attending classes after completing elementary school.

The few that do work are either criminals or engaged in selling rugs.

Fascinating people, allison.

They are know to afflict with evil eye.

They sound just like our gypsies! Only ours aren't Indian. Maybe our druggie hippie losers are just imitating the real kind...

Here's one. Just look at it sitting there, being all evil! -----------------> I

They are called gypsies because by a theory they came from Egypt.

Thats true , they were called Gypsies because people thought these strange people from the east came from Egypt....

but it was a myth , it seems their origin was in India , not Egypt..

Do you have lot sof Cygans in America?

Well, Canada ain't quite America on so many levels, but we recently changed our visitor visa policy because lot of "Czech" folks were claiming refugee status...

The Czech Republic is the second main source of refugee claims. Since Canada lifted visa requirements on Czech nationals in 2007, nearly 3,000 claims have been lodged, compared with just five in 2006.

Almost all the claimants are members of the Roma or gypsy minority, fleeing what they say is persecution in the Czech Republic where there has been a sharp rise in far-right extremism.

they also play guitars.. google Gypsy kings sometime.. super awesome.

what kind of problems? in france, many towns give gypsies land for their "campgrounds" just outside towns and villages.. that way they don't have to squat just wherever.. i think that's pretty cool.

Umm, seriously. Most of our gypsies over here aren't from India. More like domestic hippies. Ask most Americans what they think a gypsy is and they'll give you a description similar to the one I gave here.

you do know they are called "the travelers" here, right? the india thing is their ancestral "home" from way, way back..

They sound just like our gypsies! Only ours aren't Indian. Maybe our druggie hippie losers are just imitating the real kind...

no, that is not true.. like i said above.. "travelers" but yes, they aren
't honest.. most "do" construction.. watch out..

They are called gypsies because by a theory they came from Egypt.

not at all.. India

but it was a myth , it seems their origin was in India , not Egypt..

Nope but there are some. I've only met one before, a middle aged gypsy woman who used to live on the street our old house was on. Everyone hated her lol she was crazy.

So your dislike of Gypsies is based on meeting only one of them....???

That makes as much sense as me saying all Americans are assholes because of what i have read on your threads....

Aren't Gypsies called Roma in Europe and their language Romani?

they also play guitars.. google Gypsy kings sometime.. super awesome.

I've had a Gipsy Kings CD for years. love it.

By the way, there was a hugely popular tv show "Gitanas" about Spanish gypsies. She was gypsy, he was white, their love was forbidden.

What you post doesn't make sense and shows you have no understanding of what I'm saying. I didn't say I hated all gypsies, and from what I hear many other people loathe them so you can't really expect me to think otherwise. LOL you've been taking your cialis I can see you old fart.

their love was forbidden.

Yes , if you are a Gypsy its not acceptable to get involved with somebody outside of the Gypsy culture...

My girlfriend does not know her fathers side of the family at all , as he being a Gypsy who married a non Gypsy was cut out of their lives completely...

Ooooh Shewolf... i need to howl at the moon now...!

I heard that the communists built houses for the gypsies but the gypsies left them immediately and got again in their tents in countryside. The gypsies were also the only group to revolt in nazi occupation camps and after this incident noone remained alive in Germany and Austria.(paradoxically czech gypsies escaped the persecution and slovak gypsies remained intact). However today EU gypsies are not able to immigrate to other EU countries despite the EU citizen status.

That last bit is absolutely untrue. Romanian and Polish Roma are all over the place, esp. Italy, France, the UK and Ireland. Some of them are actually being deported (see France) because they were unable (or did not want to) support themselves in the usual way (i.e. by working) and relied (as usual) on begging and crime instead.

I know that slovak gypsies were refused entrance to the UK.
Magdalena 3 | 1,837
8 Sep 2010 #58
When? They were taken in with open arms as "refugees" prior to 2004, and they sure as hell still come in as and when they please. Ditto Polish gypsies. They are treated according to their passports, i.e. they are Poles and Slovaks, no questions asked. The only Roma I can think of who could have had any problems are the Romanian ones, because Romanian citizens must be either self-employed or be able to support themselves to be allowed to stay in the UK (they are not automatically granted the right to work). So Romanian gypsies become "self-employed", e.g. they sell old copies of the Big Issue on street corners or do "car washes" a.k.a rubbing a dirty rag over your car when it stands in a traffic jam, and then terrorise you for money.

I read it on economist.Slovak gypsies wanted to emigrate to UK in mass cause they had positive experience and regarded UK an ideal country for gypsies. However they were refused entrance.A gypsy island is out of perspective.

Well, this hardly solves the associated problems of them stealing from locals, etc. And sometimes the land the government permits them on is private land. This is hardly right and has been a source of a lot of the friction.

While maybe that is official policy, what we're seeing is the citizens rising up and declaring they are sick and tired of the gypsy loser criminals infiltrating their communities and the government accommodating them. One can hardly blame towns folks from feeling this way. It sounds much like our illegal alien problems out West where criminal illegals are running rampant and overrunning towns while our government does little more than let them...
