Polish engineers dominate in Utah University Rover Challenge. Its a contest of future prototypes of rovers that could study the surface of extraterrestial bodies. Polish teams are best among 23 teams taking part in the Challenge (8 American, 6 Indian, 5 Polish and 4 Canadian). In 2011 the winner was Polish team Magma, in 2013 Hyperion Team (Białystok) and second place was taken by Skorpion (Politechnika Wroclawska). Year ago Hyperion defended the title and third place was taken by Legendary Team (Rzeszów). This year we've seen the triumph of Legendary Team followed by hosts (Brigham Young University), Skorpion(Wroclaw) and #next(Bialystok) taking the 4th.

Polish scientists should organize better; now it seems the biggest corporations pick the brightest minds and use them to their own, private goals. Poland has nothing in return. It's time to create a serious space program that can lead the world :)

Poland has other priorities. Most Poles survive on peanuts, millions have to earn their bread abroad and I am sure that most Poles would be against the country "wasting money on NOT necessary things".

Exactly. The same problem with India spending millions on a space programme for vanity's sake.

Nevertheless, this initiative is a small one, is more about universities achieving excellence and should be encouraged. It isn't a space programme, and Poland does not need its own.
