Poland's Public TV News Propaganda "Wiadomości" hated by viewers

Read all about it, read all about it!

wp.pl/?paid=6157180872177793&service=wiadomosci.wp.pl

More than half of Poles believe that the quality of the "Wiadomości" program under PiS rule has deteriorated. Only 14 percent of viewers consider that the "good change" in TVP was actually very good.

In other words, just as we all know, people do not want to watch crude propaganda and manipulations. Even many voices within PiS are stressing just how bad TVP has become under Jacek Kurski. In other words, no-one wants to pay to watch this garbage, as the viewership has fallen by almost 25% in 2 years, which is significantly worse than other news programmes.

Just like the BBC in the UK then.

Anyone in PL over about 40 and with a decent IQ is well able to spot it.

Just like the BBC in the UK then.

Their political reportage certainly has a Tory bias (c.f. Laura Kuesenberg) however it isn't pure unashamed propaganda like TVP has become, basically something that people laugh at.

Just like the BBC

Are their viewing figures down by 25% over the last two years?

Not quite but getting there.

16- to 34-year-olds, the core BBC audience, tuning into BBC TV plummeted 18%, or 6.2 minutes a day.

Most probaby Polish people are out enjoying family time with the extra cash the Pis 500 project has given them.

That doesn't mean much, because that age group is cutting the cord all over the world. What matters is that the Wiadomośći total audience is down 25%, not just one age group.

So what support for the government is up, maybe the Brit expats stopped watching it ,who knows who cares.

Certainly people care, because otherwise the poll wouldn't have been commissioned.

I mean, the Poles are talking, not expats.

~People have different opinions. So what? If we are talking about political programs or the news, there is no comparison. Improvement 100% if not more.

Soviets you mean? They haven't been bothered by the prograde during PO times when TVP information reminded me a lot Soviet Poland propaganda, no wonder if the some people were calling the shots.

It's become about as objective as it was in your old days.

~People have different opinions..

Viewers talk, and a 25% slide in 2 years says it all. The news is absolutely dreadful, and even many people within PiS are openly calling for Kurski's blood because of just how bad it's become.

TVP information reminded me a lot Soviet Poland propaganda

Yes, that's a very accurate way to describe TVP these days.

hmm - I don't watch TV a lot but if I do I mostly watch TVP now - I used to watch Polsat before (during PO rule) because they were more reliable than the state TV which was no less propaganda than it is now if you ask me - I did not consider Polsat to be fully reliable though

and if you ask me the situation when all the media are criticising the main opposition party in a given country instead of watching the hands of the government is pretty strange - that was the situation during the PO rule (with the exception of fringe media who were sometimes even denied the right to report)

when all the media are criticising the main opposition party in a given country instead of watching the hands of the government i

Sounds like now. I actually watch tvp news occasionally now just to remind myself of how awful it is, the only government hands they're watching is the one handing them their paycheck....

This issue's Newsweek has a story on in-fighting at tvp between two factions of PiS (similar to a story, forget where, on infighting between two Smolensk factions). Interestingly Macierewicz looms large in both...

I actually watch tvp news (Wiadomości at 19:30) on a regular basis in order to see something different, but also to see how this news programme evolves.

At first, when PiS took power as a result of the general election the programme was a welcome change from the choir of unanimously concerted opinion on all three main TV chanel news in Poland (TVN, Polsat,TVP). Such was the case under the PO rule when it was completely irrelevant which news bulletin you decided to watch in the evening. One famous example was the case of the privatisation mafia activities in Warsaw and everywhere else in major cities which was deliberately swept under the carpet by all the three channels. Needless to say why: the mayor of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz who was largely responsible for the affair to have continued for so long was vice-chairman of the Civic Platform (PO).

I should say the divergence of opinion broadcast on television began to improve considerably shortly after Jacek Kurski took over as chairman of TVP. Viewers started to enjoy much more choice and were served two dishes instead of one and those dishes were complimentary to one another. Those who wished were undoubtedly much better informed than they could be under the PO regime.

But for the last several months the main news bulletin on TVP1 has developed into what Delph has so aplty described as "crude propaganda". The "Wiadomości" programme has slowly turned into something you can now describe as 'unwatchable'. A most primitive propaganda reminding vividly the one of the PRL era has begun to flow from the screens relentlesly and to the extent that viewers started to switch the TVP1 channel off en masse. This must have obviously resulted in advertisers leaving and prices for adverts on TVP1 dropping dramatically.

So the management of the TVP must have felt obliged to react to all this. Neither of the participants in the discussion of this thread has noted, however, that the Wiadomości's editor-in-chief Marzena Paczuska was dismissed as recently as on the 14th of August because - according to the Business Insider Polska - Jacek Kurski "lost confidence in her". Marzena Paczuska who was chief of the Wiadomości since January 2016 has already expressed her dismay at having been fired through Twitter while being on a fortnight leave. Another PiS hardliner, Joanna Lichocka, expressed her concern at this form of dismissal.

businessinsider.com.pl/media/tv-radio/marzena-paczuska-nie-jest-szefowa-wiadomosci/ppeznfj

If this change of the person in charge results in improved quality of the Wiadomości - the future will tell. I would not expect miracles, however, but some simple decency will be most welcome.

do Wiadomości broadcast lies in your opinion?- I have only seen one Lech Wałęsa utterance taken out of context but I haven't seen anything that was outwardly non-factual - but it's true I don't watch Wiadomości on a regular basis

Eh, Wiadomości, Wiadomości, you gravely failed. See, if you gave more space to Serbians, more space to Serbian question and issues such as our stolen Kosovo and our Adriatic (etc), more space to mutual Slavic solidarity and to holly Sarmatian connection, you Wiadomości, could get respect. But, you Wiadomości only BLA BLA nonsense and you lost viewers, you miserable corrupt media. No, they even hate you. See?

A memo has been leaked. It says that (plenty of reference to the outbreak of WWII with today being the anniversary), their 'journalists' are not to talk about Nazis or 'Hitlerowcy' but Germans.

Very accurate, they were Germans.

It's just yet more crude propaganda designed to somehow stir up anti-EU sentiment where none exists.

Certain losers lap it up, particularly those who were such failures in Poland that they had to go to the UK to wash dishes and clean toilets.

No not become. It was unashamed anti PiS propaganda for 8 years before. I wonder if you were complaining then? Didn't think so.[/quote]
Now it's swung the other way.

Yes, that and to further JK's darker, more authoritarian agenda. Basically by whipping up hatred where none existed.

It was unashamed anti PiS propaganda for 8 years before.

No it wasn't. It actually used to have some standards.

Did you watch it often, being in a different country?

Yes it had standards to bash PiS all you can. A certain retard Lis was a champion at this, he must have been getting a lot of bonuses at the end of each year from Bul Komorowski.

Nothing changed it had no standards before, only sides turned around.

The only hilarious thing is the pain of your asss that the sides turned around. The more you and other left wing retards cry the more we like it.

It was actually quite respected before, not as much as TVN or Polsat, but still reputable.

Evidently you're out of touch with such matters.

You certainly do have a penchant for Poles cleaning toilets!

What makes you think you're so superior than the Polish?

There has to be a reason you left Scotland to live in Poland?

Perhaps, you were a failure in Scotland as well!
