Poland's Defence Ministry is looking into reports that among 300 to 500 European mercenaries currently fighting for money on behalf of the Gaddafi regime in Libya are a 'significant amount' of Polish helicopter experts.
EUobserver reports that most of the European mercenaries come from Eastern Europe or the Balkans, including Belarusians, Serbians and Ukrainians, all working for several thousand US dollars a day.

These mercenaries will flee the country before their side loses. They know the situation on the ground better than anyone else.

If this happens to be the case they should be tried in a criminal court of law. This would also kinda turn the "for your Freedom and ours" idea on its head.

All these are tough nuts and seriously underestimated.A veteran Serb from Bosnia war or a Russian who has fought in Chcechenia has military value way higher than any untrained rebel.

The "Polish media" you're referring to - the Polskie radio dla zagranicy - seem to be a bunch of Polonophobes scribbling in at times bad English. Do you consider such individuals a reliable source? Hehe, they brag that the Economist has praised them for their news, but shouldn't the praise from the Polonophobic rag make one suspect the "Polish" news they fabricate is Polonophobic too?

Yeah, plenty Slavic forces in there. I can't imagine Polish mercenaries being there, tbh. Maybe there are some livewires that want to earn some extra cash but it just doesn't strike me as being a correct story.
