Cos they are same sex married or admit to being in a relationship, strange question, how do you know your friends are straight? or gay?

There are gay bars in Krakow. I don't think it is so bad...I think it depends what sort of people you mix with....lots are just indifferent.

Thinking about it - for anyone who is 'different' if someone is black, guy, disabled- life is easier in bigger cities.

To be honest I live in UK - all guy rights and everything but just imagine group of guys on Saturday night entering pub in rural Scotland or Wales.....can't imagine they would receive warm welcome.

True, but I don't think it would result in outward hostility, where I am I am not so sure, I think the youngsters are getting more tolerant especially those who have lived and worked abroad.

It would be here. In Poland, I would not advertise my gayness so the only way for anybody to know that I am would be if I said: Hi, my name is Rich and I am gay.

Why is "she is a lesbian" correct but "he is a gay" is not?
Is gay still an adjective? What about "gays"? As in "gays and lesbians". It's a noun, isn't it?

Is gay still an adjective?

Yes. However saying 'a gay' is incorrectly using it as a noun.

lesbian

Of course she could be a Lesbian lesbian.

There are gay bars in Krakow.

Quite a few, and in all other larger Polish cities (and a few smaller ones). Although new ones are opening, on the whole gay bars are a declining phenomenon; the younger generation prefer to go out to mainstream bars and clubs.

What about 'gays"? A noun with no singular?

It's like black....

*She's a black (wrong)

She's black.

Three blacks were arrested for sitting in the white section of the bus.

It's not generally a noun at all.

An incorrect usage; appeared briefly in the 80s and then was mostly forgotten.

You are wrong. "gays and lesbians" returns 3,500,000 hits.

So do many incorrect forms.

An incorrect usage

nonsense 'gay' functions in American English the same way 'black' does, an adjective while gays and blacks are plurale tantum nouns.

Is "She's gay." acceptable in the UK? It is in the US (which sometimes surprises Polish speakers since 'gej' was adopted into Polish as a noun and only refers to men)

adjective

It's an adjective, sometimes (though only sometimes) used badly as a noun.

Is "She's gay." acceptable in the UK?

Yes, it's acceptable usage.

Not that anybody cares, but I am grateful to the transgenders for opening public restrooms to all humans. I had a chance to benefit from this change several times recently. I admit I was against it at the beginning.

And I am still against schools allowing boys into the locker rooms for girls or to compete with them as if they were equal. This is nothing but sick pc crap.

allowing boys into the locker rooms for girls

If you go swimming in Poland you will know that men and women regularly share locker rooms with no problems.

And then you'll hear

you hear a lot of 'things', that called gossip, yet you were give a brain to use it properly, if you as you have demonstrated are unable to do it you should stick to what you know. Gossiping washerwomen are just not cool,

intolerance countrywide changing for decades.

Last prison sentence for being a homo was ruled in 1974 if I'm not mistaken in the uk?
In Poland there were no laws regarding homosexuality. So, I really don't know what are you talking about? Unless you mean to say that homosexual are not seen by the populace as something needed, wanted and with an added value. In short a healthy realism as contrary to forcible brainwashing and propaganda that goes on in 'some' countries.

Why would you talk about gay friend? Either someone is your friend or not. Do you start every convo with an introduction - hey I'm M. and I f.. my wife now and then?

If not, why that urge to state your sexual activities as something that define you as a person?
would that be an ideology that you are into without even realizing it?

By the way. How dare those activist butt in into religious teachings?

You are very much mistaken,my friend, homosexuality was decriminalized in The UK in 1967.

Oh,I don't know.
Are you old enough to remember the sixties?
I was just a kid, but attitudes were very different then, even after 1967.
For Britain, I think it was about the right time.

OK, time for numbers. 100% hetero society is viable. 100% homo society is not.

You do realise procreation is not the same as love and relationship, don't you? There would be no problem with 100% homosexual society. Not that it would happen as it's biological and the number of gay ppl is more or less constant.

you hear a lot of 'things', that called gossip, yet you were give a brain to use it properly,

So tou agree with me that thee is a reason for gay ppl to fight? Who would have thought...Either that or you are trying to be an a** withouth actually underatanding what I meant.

How dare those activist butt in into religious teachings

Wow. From now on there should be a new rule and only ppl aproved by you should be allowed to comment on things ...
Like ir or not but there are gay ppl among believers

I always felt that procreation should be the result of a loving relationship, looks like the world is changing.

@Miloslaw
No I don't remember sixties but I think it was different in UK than in 'socialist' Poland. Not only homosexuality was not criminalised but also women situation was different. I think it relates more to fifties but in Poland women were encouraged to do any job in UK to get married ,stay home and look after husband.

Ha,ha not sure how it would work in Poland :-)

I quite like this one :
