Adam Michnik awarded for integrity, professionalism and high standards. Poland's No. 1 fascist?

It's worse, worse than just seizing power.

Fortunately, knowing Poles, they're not going to lie down like the Hungarians did. Any attempt to fire journalists en masse is going to result in the creation of even more opposition media - and these people are not going to let PiS off lightly.

Your lies are getting old

This is exactly what Pawłowicz from PiS says. Public media are state media, they are political, and they should support the rulers.

You haven't been here wailing and complaining when for the last eight years

I didn't know about these forums. Hard to understand ?

Fortunately, knowing Poles, they're not going to lie down like the Hungarians did.

So optimistic. PiS line of defense - "everyone is doing that" - isn't helping. Poles stop to care.

Indeed. It's why no PiS puppet journalist will ever be regarded internationally as having integrity, professionalism and high standards.

Speaking of journalists and integrity, Wojciech Sumliński is an investigative journalist and a darling of right wingers. It so happens that his book was recalled from bookstores in the middle of presidential campaign without giving any justification.

The book "Niebezpieczne Związki Bronisława Komorowskiego"(Bronisław Komorowski - previous president) plagiarizes several criminal fiction classics, including Alistair MacLean and Raymond Chandler. Whole paragraphs are ripped. I attached examples.

Not a surprise in the slightest. The right wing media is essentially PiS controlled trash, with "journalists" being appointed solely on the basis of being someone's friend/cousin/family member and them to continue their employment simply because they write the Party approved line of events.

BS, it is not plagiarism, few phrases or turn of a phrase are the same but contend and the subject is totally different. By the way those are translations.

You have no shame, there are maybe only few journalist like him in Poland and you are here are blacking his name like a cowardly scum.

Not a surprise in the slightest

Do you even have any idea about whom you are talking about?

You remind me very much of the Iraqi Information Minister, Comical Ali.

You have no shame, there are maybe only few journalist like him in Poland and you are here are blacking his name like a cowardly scum.

Yes, I imagine there's only a few "journalists" that would be openly stupid enough to try and publish something that has been largely plagiarized from well known authors.

Do you even have any idea about whom you are talking about?

Yes, he's yet another PiS-puppet.

Merged: Chronic michnikitis strikes again!

The illegitimate Szechter boy has again splashed lies and slander cross the first page of his rag. A screaming headline proclaims: PROWOKATURA -- a play on the words prowokacja and prokuratura.

That was his response to the government's efforts to crack down on crime and scams. That is all the more needed in the wake of the Platformers' pitiful performance. They not only failed to crack down on scandals but actually were the source of many, and dismally failed to eliminate the designer-drug trade and chemcially castrate paedophiles. Tusk went on record as solemnly pledging to resolve thsoe issues!

Sting operations are used by law-enforcement the world over to prevent and prosecute crime. Only those with something to hide, drug-dealers, terrorists, mafia types, people cheating on their employers or their spouses have something to hide need to fear closer scrutiny. Those with a clean conscience should not object to having their phones tapped and emails monitored if it serves crime prevention and public security. But the Szechterling again is on the side of shady types, anarcho-leftists and other such scum and against energetic and effective law enforcement. Coming from a KPP background swarming with conspriators, provocateurs, saboteurs and terrorists, it's no wonder!

Please use proper names in future

I wonder why you fail to provide a link to the article in question. Could it be because the article starts by pointing out that the 18% regime want to make legal exactly the same criminal acts that Ziobro was to be tried for? Here's a link so people can read for themselves: wyborcza.pl/1,75478,19462362,prowokatura.html

As for the best selling Polish newspaper being a "rag", it's a pity that you insult the Poles who choose to read it, why can't you just get over the fact that your work was never good enough to be published in Wyborcza?

the Szechterling

I don't know why the mods even pretend to have a rule about not changing people's names; your posts make it crystal clear that nobody will ever be banned for breaking that rule (unless of course it's a person that a mod has a score to settle with).

Do you use curtains in your house ?
Polonius3 1,000 | 12,446

Do you use curtains

Yes, only exhibitonists don't use curtians. They are there to protect the outside world from those who walk about naked at home or try to titillate peeping teams with exposed copulation.

But anyone who fears routine monitoring by law enforcement organs must have something to hide or something on their conscience.
Harry
13 Jan 2016 #104
Given that you do neither of those things, why do you have curtains? You have nothing to hide, so why have them?

But anyone who fears routine monitoring by law enforcement organs must have something to hide or something on their conscience.

Is the same true of people who refuse to undergo routine background checks by LEO, such as the ones carried out when people apply for residency or citizenship? Do those people have guilty secrets on their conscience? Perhaps those people might feel better if they just publicly confessed their misdeeds? It's not as if collaborating with the secret services during commie times was a crime; even Adam Michnik, who was locked up for opposing the same regime those people actively supported, has spoken out about the need to forgive and to heal the old wounds.

Journalism students from 21 un-Polish academies participated in a "Mediatorzy" plebiscite.

Did they check the backgrounds of those journalist students? Do you honestly believe that real Polish students would vote for Michnik??? It is not a true vote, better check also the authorities at those universities.
Borsukrates 5 | 131

It is not a true vote,

Care to elaborate ? What makes a vote not true ?

As for that journalist/writer Sumliński, the list keeps expanding. He also plagiarized Albom, Larsson, Steinbeck, Coelho. They found this out by talking to a translator. Unfortunately, three other translators who translated MacLean are already dead.

It's all here - kompromitacje.blogspot.com/2016/01/sumlinski-plagiator-patologiczny.html

Essentially, the link goes into great detail about how he copied many of the works directly. It compares paragraphs and shows that he didn't even bother to significantly rewrite any of it. Like most of what PiS produce, it's cheap trash designed for the brains of those that are already brainwashed.

let PiS off lightly

Too bad the Platformers were let off so lightly. Hopefully a parliamentary commission will put their scams, offences and neglect under scrutiny.

What are you even talking about?
The point that everybody here is missing on purpose is that his book is not a work of fiction but a result of that journalist investigation into a dirty, murky and a suspicious past, deeds and connections of the former president B. Komorowski.

That part based on facts and fruits of his investigation must be a stonewall solid because his cronies and fellow travelers don't even try to touch the important part of the book. Picking instead on some unimportant lace or other finery aimed at making the reading more interesting.

Even then those people shouting about plagiarism have no ground to stand. If I was him I would sue those papers that pointed a finger at him.
delphiandomine 88 | 18,455
19 Jan 2016 #111
... oh Ironside. How much are you being paid to say this stuff? :D

There's a link above that shows you how his "investigation" was actually blatantly copied from various authors. I know you can read Polish, so go ahead and look at the way that large sections were simply copied.

some unimportant lace

You mean the way that he presents meetings as being factual when instead, they're lifted straight from a crime novel? :D

If I was him I would sue those papers that pointed a finger at him.

I know you're a huge, huge PiS fanboy, but how can you honestly say that when the link above shows you exactly what he did? He plagiarised other books lock, stock and barrel!

The point that everybody here is missing on purpose

The article in Newsweek is about the plagiarism in the form of the book, and it got that right. Aside from the ethics related to plagiarism, we could talk about the ethics of describing a ruling president using language straight from crime fiction books. It's a cheap attempt at playing on reader's emotions, and influence him not by strenght of arguments but subconsciously.
delphiandomine 88 | 18,455

What ethics? Unlike Michnik, PiS supporting journalists get their ethics straight from the Good Journalist's Guide To Writing Complete Bollocks In Trybuna Ludu.

oh Ironside. How much are you being paid to say this stuff? :D

Why? Are you looking to earn some bucks on the side?

I know you can read Polish, so go ahead and look at the way that large sections were simply copied.

Precisely because I can read Polish I'm telling you that there is not such a thing you described.

You mean the way that he presents meetings as being factual when instead, they're lifted straight from a crime novel

No, I mean facts adorned with few phrases from a crime novel, stylization if you will.

I know you're a huge, huge PiS fanboy

Geez delph I told you this before so try to remember - I'm not a big fan of PiS, just enemy of my enemy is my friend. For example I don't understand why they talk to Schultz at all? In their place I would meet him just to have a chance to kick him amply between his legs. I would simply send him on the tree to straighten bananas as that is the only thing he is good at, and ask to talk with somebody serious, someone in charge, rather than waste my time on that figurant.

He plagiarised other books lock, stock and barrel!

Sue him if he did or for ever remain silent. Why don't you instead read a few facts about B. Komorowski?

Selling of "Gazeta Wyborcza" is drastically going down, I wonder why? :-))) Maybe Michnik knows something about it.

Maybe Michnik knows

I wouldn't but anything past his ilk. My dziadek in Polonia once told me about shyster businessmen of a certain nationality (which I will not specify) who used to clandestinely haul away a shop's or warhehouse's s goods, equipment and fixtures under the cover of night, stash them away for safekeeping somewhere and then set fire to the building to collect the insurance money. Many a businessman has also become rich by going bankrupt if he played his cards right.

Sales of all newspapers are down, but GW is still the best selling newspaper in Poland. One obvious reason that GW's sales are down is the bans imposed on state financed offices buying the paper, but that's PIS for you, happy to give millions of taxpayer money to a vile racist monk just for supporting them but unwilling to let the taxpayer buy some copies of the best selling newspaper in Poland.

Many a businessman has also become rich by going bankrupt if he played his cards right.

An interesting claim to make in a country that essentially has no personal bankruptcy mechanism available to business people, might one ask about the source for your statement?

Stop lying. "Fakt" is the best selling newspaper in Poland.
