New radio chief promises more Polish culture

Finally there should be more Polish culture on Poland's airwaves. The newly appointed head of Polish Radio Barbara Stanisławczyk said in an interview: "We do not intend to eliminate other content but there must be some balance. We've got great artists and a superb culture -- let's not renounce it but help our culture."

It'll be a refreshing change if even some of the foreign popculture slime gets scrubbed!
FP's pro-foreign blowhard expats probably want such mega-concerns as Warner Music and otehrs of that ilk to get ahead, so they' be disappoitned. But Poles have usually rooted for the underdog, the little guy who should also be given a chance.

Problem is, it costs a lot of money to create such shows, hence why most of them are successful in one location and then sold worldwide. They're also proven ratings winners - and they also pay for themselves through SMS votes and so on.

One brilliant series that TVP created was Lippy and Messy - pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lippy_and_Messy - they created not only the shows, but an entire educational system around it. More of that, please!

I think a great Idea would be to have a radio station in English promoting Polish culture, its music and traditions it would be educational for visitors and ex pats alike

There is this - external.polskieradio.pl/10 - but it's not well funded or advertised. They also cut the German section, which is absolute madness.

There have been private attempts at establishing an English language radio - for instance, there was Radio Wroclove, but such a thing really needs governmental support. I'd agree with you that such a station would be a great idea - I'm always listening to some really brilliant Polish music on Trójka, and I'm quite a fan of 1980's Polish New Wave, but most foreigners simply won't bother because it's relatively inaccessible.

Yeah a good mix of old and new music, also people would be able to advertise their tourist /business services etc.

News updates in English which also give some background if an item is of a politicac nature l or ongoing news item, great for tourists and business people alike.

Surely with the advent of DAB this would not be that expensive... allthough DAB is only available it the cities at the moment

Its kind of investment. you know, spread of culture, language, export of influence... When Poland become center of Intermarium all investments would be repaid. With interest. See, Poles aren`t blind. They sow that Germany created EU for their economic and political aims, to profit on it. Now, Poles wants to profit on their project- Intermarium.

ahhh, Poles are so rudely good in business.

This is not an expenditure, is an investment.

There is no bigger asset to a country than it is own culture, and the cultural aspects of Poland should be preserved.
