Polish guy - (are we ever going to get together if he doesn't understand me or I him?)

hi want some advice met Polish guy end of June & really like feel real chemistry for this guy but mutual friend tells me he was hurt & hasn't been with woman in quite few years I've asked him out few times but he's said no but flirts all the time . At first told mutual friend that he thought going out would've been wonderful but was embarrassed because wouldn't be able to order ( breakfast ) food without pictures on menu cause doesn't understand lot of English then he made comment about 1 month later that he hasn't been with woman in years what would he do with me . I think he likes me but how r we ever going to get together if he doesn't understand me or I him ????? I started learning Polish & have been sending him things with stuff written in Polish ( thanks to Google ) but does take time to learn not easy language any advice????? he's been in US for 18 years & never had to learn English really like him actually never felt like this about anyone before

It actually is in certain areas with high concentrations of Polonians.

I'd normally agree if it wasn't for the fact that in my UK home town I have met Poles who have been in Britain or Eire for 4 or 5 years and they know very little English, barely managing a few words.

It's very possible. I have an eleven-year-old cousin who was born to Polish parents in the Sates, and lived all of her life in the States. Her English is just plain awful. And there are plenty of immigrants from Poland from my grandparents generation who lived 70 years in the States without learning English at all.

On the flip side, I also have a British friend her in Wrocław who has been living in Poland for fifteen years, is married to a Polish woman and has two teenage kids. He never learned Polish beyond a few basic words and phrases. Even though he's an English teacher and speaks only English to his kids, their English is not at all impressive. They both have strong Polish accents that do not betray any British influence.
