Nearly all of the people involved in crime have come from LODZ and POZNAN.

haven't met my friends from the Praga neighbourhood of Warsaw yet?

Bloody Polish thieves, I think they are terrible. I have had personnel experience of this and I am still suffering the trauma after nearly 6 years when my wife stole my heart. Then I had a double whammy when my daughter was born (I suppose you can call her half Polish), and that was enough for me. They have both stolen my heart. :)

I spent about 2 years in Poland and must say - without exaggeration - that most Poles I met, irrespective of their characters, were thieves or one sort or other. Every day, millions of zloties worth f goods are sold at the Stadion in Warsaw, much of which is either stolen or smuggled. Those I met, had absolutely no shame about thieving and considered it perfectly acceptable. The Poles in Germany are known as thieves. It was interesting that a Polish friend of mine was complaining how in Germany shop-keepers would watch the Polish tourists like hawks in case they steal things, but he himself had participated in such thefts.

I don't know why theft should be so normal among the Poles. Sure, they are poor, but there are poorer nations who don't indulge in mass thieving.

I suspect that it could be because Poles believe that the whole world owes them something. The Germans and the Russians for invading them. The Italians for being allies of Germans. The French and the British for not coming to their aid... This attitude is reflected in the demands of their government to the EU. Always hungry for money, but when it comes to co-operation, there is none.

If someone has a better suggestion for the prevalence of thieving among Poles, I am most interested to hear.

The first impression from the Poles arriving to America is that there is so much honesty in the US. Americans might not think that people in the US are honest, but they are, compared to Poland.

This from reliable sources.

Hmmmmm, how is that Reliable source of yours doing? Tell that source I said, "CZESC!" and that I look forward to seeing you and that source at Taste of Polonia! :)

hahahaha, the "source" is very impressed with the politeness of people in the US. He went for a bike ride and people he doesn't know wave and smile to him. He can't get over it and is very impressed. He is doing very good, I will say "hi" to him. Thanks Ranj!!

Another racist topic on this forum (re the implied generalisation). Same question can be asked about any nation - and yet it seems to be never asked. Why just the Poles are associated with theft and similar unsavoury subjects? Yet notice who the question comes from - his or her spelling.... Maybe it's the primitive 'sledz' who himself steals? Evildoers often like divert attention from themselves by accusing others. Only Fiszek has replied in kind to the racist imbecile. Fiszek, thanks to you (and Shopgal) my image of Americans gets brighter.

Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Hatians, El Salvadorans, Guetamalans, Hmong, Chinese, Turks, and Jews, especially Jews, are all accused of theft in the US, much more often than Poles. I mustn't forget the Italians, and the Irish, Russians, and Russian Jews of course. Blacks are in a class by themselves, but we must differentiate between American blacks, and natives of Africa. Nowadays, with the influx of Indians, Pakastanis, and the various Arabs, all are easily accused of theft much more often than Poles.

My gf says the same. She can't believe people here are so polite.

The only ones that I know that get arrested for stealing in the NY area are the Blacks and Latinos. Never heard of any of these others "accused". And these are people that got caught, so I'm not voicing an opinion. When I worked retail we'd have people in the back all the time for stealing.

I was thrown back by the accusations I've heard while in Germany and Poland. Even the Media Markt commercial had a PL person stealing. I think it may've been removed though.

It was interesting that a Polish friend of mine was complaining how in Germany shop-keepers would watch the Polish tourists like hawks in case they steal things, but he himself had participated in such thefts.

They do say "You are the company that you keep". What does this say about you?

I suspect that it could be because Poles believe that the whole world owes them something.

And I suspect that you've lost your mind. Am I correct? :)

The Poles in Germany are known as thieves.

From what I've observed; and I may be wrong, is that the Germans still have this attitude of being superior, so to them everyone is lower class. I just dissregard anything that they say.

People. Regardless of where you're from. There are those who have sth in their head that makes them want to steal. It's a rush of sorts. Just ask Winona Ryder :)

Also, have you ever seen these scam Emails from PL people? If they are so poor, why aren't they trying to scam the world like the Nigerians ?

OK. My sarcasm sensor has been disabled this morning :) In this case you're correct.

When I was 6 I was caught stealing by my mom (big punching balloon). She brought me back to the store to have me "fake arrested" by the police to teach me a lesson.

Now maybe some can say all Native Americans are theives. We are getting a lot of the white mans money with our casinos though ;) so you never know what people say under their breath while leaving the casino broke :) Fekking thieves.... took all of my money :P

thats b*llsh1t. Most people DONT steal if they have an opportunity. if it was the case there would be chaos like the wild west. Only worthless SCUM steal when they get the chance becasue they are too lazy or useless to EARN the money to buy what they need. Yes you should not leave things unattended but it doesnt measn that its ok to steal if something is left unattended.

In Poland people glue their license plates to their cars because they steal those and sell them on a bazar.
Thery are always thinking how to make money off others so they can buy wódka and papierosy. That's why they got them big foreheads.

this is true... there is a new law in poland where you have to drive with your lights on so that people can see you if you are stealing a car... some people say its to make the roads safer so that people will be able to see if there is a car coming... as if you would miss a car hurtling towards you... duh...
