Fr. John Bashobora National stadium Warszawa (Warsaw)

poland_
28 Jun 2013 #1
Fr. John Bashobora the Ugandan priest and faith healer will be at the National Stadium in Warszwa in early July. Over 57,000 tickets have been sold to Catholics wishing to be part of this event. To put it into perspective more people will pay to see Fr. John Bashobora, than will attend the Heineken Opener Music festival in Gydnia featuring world renowned musicians.

Some would have you believe the Catholic church is under threat in Poland, numbers don't lie?

It's a general religion thing - people do seem to be drawn to huge events like this. But how much are tickets?

You can't really compare - Open'er is expensive and in a far off destination whereas Warszawa is central.

Woodstock gets what, 250,000 every year?

But how much are tickets?

40 PLN

There will be a number of events during July, all profits made will be donated to orphanages in Uganda.

57,000 is a big number for Warsaw, Paul Mc Cartney only got 25-27,000.

Interestingly, most of the results that come up for him on google are in Polish. He seems to have quite a following here.

A couple of years ago I went to a mass in ul. Dominican Republic 2, he was one of the priests of the mass. Interestingly a lot of middle class families in attendance age group

35- 50. It was a very family orientated day I can see where the marketing comes from I guess the void left by JPII.

jon357, quite interesting that he is black and has such a big following in PL, just goes to show to some demographic groups in Warszawa skin colour is not a restricting factor.

Good to see anyway.

You sure about that? Opener must have got smaller, back in 2011 it drew at least 80,000.

Fr. John Bashobora the Ugandan priest

Will Radio Maryja be commenting on his bathing habits?

Remember the opener is over 4 days 2011 when Bon Jovi played was the bumper year they ran out of armbands on the thursday I believe it was. Maybe this year with Rhianna on the Sunday there will be big numbers. The average figures according to my sources in Alterart are around 50-60,000 over the four days.

Will Radio Maryja be commenting on his bathing habits?

I don't know the people doing the marketing of this event, would it not clash with some of the events RM organize, would your average RM listener want to go see a black priest, the RM brigade are very traditional?

Here is the site the registration is closed at capacity

Heineken Opener Music festival i

Crap lineup this year.

Over 57,000

Brainless morons who'll swallow any old nonsense rather than face up to the fact that if you're sick only medicine, science & treatment can help you, not talking in your head to your imaginary friend.

Nope, the real brainless morons will be listening to Radio Maryja and pointedly ignoring the priest who 'hasn't washed completely'.

Tell ya who isn't brainless, this 'priest'/entrepreneur

40 bucks a head, he'll make a fortune. Fair play Mr.

Bashobora

, I can only praise those who dupe the public for a living and make a fortune while doing it.

Oh a related note.
Every Christian should watch this:
youtu.be/21NoQuKTB8Q

Mr. Dawkins (I'm sure you all hate him) speaks with Prof John Huddlestun. Prof of Religious Studies, College of Charleston.
Basically he discusses the many mistranslations in the Bible and says that what the church preaches has no foundations whatsoever.
Indeed, many of the things it shoves down your throats are just plain made up or wrong.

No one can dispute the power of self healing, if people wish to go along to a venue where a priest prays to god to heal others why not. Its not like he is one of these American healers getting people in wheelchairs to stand up.

With Fr. John Bashobora its all about the ' power of prayer ' power of the mind self healing.

As for science & its treatment not all is positive, I believe more in food as medicine than something manufactured in a lab.

Don't believe all you read and hear in the media Smurf, its all a racket to make profit buddy.

Crap lineup this year.

You are so feckin negative about all smurf, you are becoming a sad old git, locked away down there in Kato. You need a night in the Mbassy with Morgan et al.

Some would have you believe the Catholic church is under threat in Poland

Churches are still well attended by W. European standards but many Catholics feel deiscirmnated agaisnt in their own country. The small but influential 'lame-stream' media eagerly use every opportuntiy to jab, stab or poke fun at the Church and deride Catholics, whilst overtly and covertly promoting agnositcism and practical atheism, other religions, lifestlyes and anything else that undermines Poland's principal religious faith. Such anti-Catholic discrimuination and ostracism are constantly raised by the Catholic media, at Episcopate conferences and meetings of grass-roots Catholics in Akcja Katolicka and other organisations.

Even the use of the faith healer v Heineken concert compartison is another example of the insulting reasons given to prove Catholcis are not discrimianted against. People seeking relief from serious health complaints have also flocked to non-Catholic Russian (Kashpirovsky), English (Harris) and other bioenergy healers.

Mbassy with Morgan et al.

If I wanted your advice I'd PM you.
That pub closed around 4 years ago anyway ;)

Expect every single doctor ever :P

If he makes people feel better and be more positive about what ails them, then it's a good thing.

I used to go along with that, but the fact that he's involved in spreading lies turns me off this viewpoint.
Plus, why thew fuq does he need to charge for it?
If he's so holy and close to god etc etc, why not do it out of the goodness of his heart?

Charlatan, that's all he is and a money-grabbing one at that.

To be fair, he's not going to be getting the stadium for free, soundsystems cost a bundle, as do big screen display units, he'll need to pay for insurance, the security will be charging him, there's the electricity to pay for, the cleaning, etc, etc. Free just isn't a realistic price. Although 40zl does seem a little steep.

Do much out of the goodness of your heart, do you?

Does he charge $15 a throw?

Then this his he has in common with mr maybach, whose every move is business-oriented...be it swindling money out of old babcias for non-existing shipyard rescuing funds, to geothermal swindle.

mr maybach

Still haven't outgrown your name-calling? A PO MP had to apologise to Rydzyk for spreading that lie when it turned out the Good Father's car was a Lexus. Will you be next? Nah, you're not important enough for anyone to bother about.

" I'm sorry cond. Tadeusz R. for it , with once wrote that drives a Maybach . Was mistaken , drives a Lexus . Again, sorry" - wrote on Twitter deputy Paul Olszewski .

Olszewski made reference to one of his earlier tweets - in February 2012 , he wrote that "the Lord Chief Rydzyk is by Brudzińskiego poor monk !!! Therefore rides Maybach'em basic version !!!" . For this entry Olszewski was punished by reprimand parliamentary ethics committee of Deputies - a proposal for punishment by the club for Members of Solidarity and the Polish PiS Marcin Mastalerek . Olszewski was accused of " deliberately repeats the lies that have long been denied ."

the Good Father's car was a Lexus.

I think that says it all. What need does a mere priest have for a luxury car such as a Lexus?

Just think about all those old people handing over money to Radio Maryja, just to watch him get driven by in a Lexus while they have to walk.

old people handing over money to Radio Maryja

It's their right how they spend their own money, innit?
If one started criticising people for the foolish things many squander their earnings on, there'd be no time for anything else.
BTW, you never seem to criticise government bigwigs for driving or being driven about in BMWs and Audis, and at the taxpayer's expense to boot!

Of course it is but it's disgusting to see that happening. I don't ask him to live in poverty but some moderation would be greatly appreciated.

My friend lived with a girl that lied to her parents she pays 200 zl more for apartement to send it to RM. I still wonder how she explained it to herself. Not Rydzyk fault here though.

I fully agree. Perosnally I am turned off by luxophiles, be they polticians, celebrities, business tycoons or sport stars, and regard it as immoral in a world where half the popualtion goes to bed hungry. But a luxury-loving man of the cloth is even worse because that's not what Christianity is about. However, one cannot go overboard by suggesting every last widow's pense (including the the 200 zł you mentioned) goes only to fuel Rydzyk's personal lifestyle. Running a media company and university costs money. And although you may disagree with his views, RM and TV Trwam are performing an extensive mission, bringing solace to elderly shut-ins, providing a Catholic approach to the news and reminding Polonians world-wide of their ancestral heritage.

the chains of oppression and spoon-fed nonsense.

Mainstream relgion is exerting a declinign influence on society, so it's kind of like beating a dead horse. How many of your friends, colleagues and others you interact with are all that religious?

Today people are being spoon-fed, downdumbed and exploited by the new religion of popconsuemrism or popcommericalism which incidentlaly is nearly a carbon-copy of mainstream relgion.

It's got its high priests and icons, saints and devils, liturgies and mantras, sins and ways to (PC) salvation. Its temples are shoppign malls and rock arenas. And it is all the more insiduous since the suckers who fall for it usually don't realise they are being victimised and exploited.

Popcommercialism has replaced authorities with seasonal idols, tried and tested values with trendy passing fads and words of wisdom with cheap slogans, buzzwords and smart-alecky ripostes. Is that the new 'religion' you really want to lead people to?.

who cut off his own dick and claims to be a woman now is cool

Oh wait, do you mean Anna Grodzka? I very much doubt that she carried out the operation herself. She was unhappy with the body/sex she was born into, she changed it.

Big deal get over it. In my eyes it's no different than someone taking any other type of cosmetic surgery. I don't particularly think that Ms Grodzka is cool. But she has as much a right to live her life as she sees fit, just like me and just like you.

If you have a problem with then Greg, well then, that's exactly what that is. It's your problem. Build a bridge, get over it.

And I know you're religious Greggy, I found this funny, maybe you'll be offended, if you are then forgive me (as a Christian you have to if I ask for forgiveness):

Christianity:
The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and drink his blood and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from something invisible called your soul that is present in humanity because a woman made from a rib was convinced by a talking snake to eat an apple from a magical tree.

Guys, who think they are Napoleons are locked in rooms without corners, guys who think they are women, are just like anyone else... Right, one has to believe in something totally illogical to buy this crap, you do believe in that, you're not an atheist, you've just replaced traditional religion with this load of garbage, it is your religion.
