Written by a friend of mine Mike Butcher.

Launched in November 2006, at its height the service had over 27 million registered users. But figures have been nose-diving this year as Facebook eats into its core social networking user base. It may be that heat from Facebook which is prompting the sale. We've reached out to Nasza Klasa for comment.

I thought that Nasza Klasa was failing in popularity, and that maybe the reason why if it is true, it is up for sale.

What can be done to revive NaszaKlasa? €130M is tons of money, how would they get it back at least?

I'd be shocked if anyone but the Allegro Group bought it.

they could allow a forum.

if they understood that people use it as a search tool for genealogy then they could build sections of the site into something new.

I bowed out couple of months ago, when they sent me the new terms. I already found everyone I wanted to find anyway.

facebook

Ok, but it requires too much time to "nurture" it, not like N-K. I wouldn't have time and will to devote such a big amount of real life to transfer it into virtual, internet "life". Rambling on this forum is enough;)) Anyway who needs blogs, chats and such things?

€130m for that pile of sh*te? holy jaysus.
Link is pretty old though, anything more up to date on it?

Cannot understand why anyone would want to look up the people they went to school with that they haven't been in touch with for years.

-Oh look, Jarek W had a baby
-So did Agnieszka B, MAgda S, Sabina R etc etc
-yea, I seen that Asia has a nice LAnd Rover & a foreign husband and 5 babies too
-Hey, looks like Marcin B was in Egypt for his last holiday...

blah blah, who gives a crap what people you lost touch with 20 years ago are doing, you lost touch with them for a reason....the reason being they were boring prats to begin with :P

*runs & takes cover for making fun of the national institution that is Nasza Klase*

Its the advertising potential which is where the money is, 27 million users speaks for its self.

Take facebook for example its worth what around £50 billion, it has the power to elect presidents, change public opinion etc..

27 million users

There might be 27million registered users but that doesn't mean that 27million actually use it.

The article was a long time ago and I'm guessing it was a PR released to try and stimulate some kind of investment rather than actually trying to sell it. Social Media changes pretty quickly and Nasze Klasa missed out when they had their chance. Facebook is trying desperately to keep it's users while Twitter & Tumblr are gaining more & more everyday. Does anyone remember Friendster, Bebo or Myspace, they were all bought for big money but it was too late, only a proper gobsh*t would even contemplate buying it.

It seems that facebook is everywhere at the moment but from what I've seen it's pretty much plateaued and unless it gets into Russia & China it's popularity will start falling away in the next couple of years, even as it is there's been plenty of press regarding "Leave Facebook" days over their dodgy security features.
