Hi,

I have to go to Poland for a month and I estimate I need €2,000 worth of PLN.

Is it best to exchange the € in Poland or in Ireland or best to use Irish debit card at an ATM in Lodz?

Thanks!

Change the money in a "Kontor" Bureau de Change, they have the best rates.

I would advise doing it over several visits.

Good luck.

The guy in the kebab shop opposite the "Kinoteka" sign on the Pałac Kultury will sort you out, our kid :)

I thought travellers cheques were exchanged as if they were normal notes i.e. no special rate?

Kontors give better rates than banks.

This exchange rate can be better than the bank's if you went in with cash, as I believe it is exchanged using the national rate, I could be mistaken.

500 Euro bills, only 4 notes, surely your leopard skin tight dress can't be that tight? :)

Me too.

Most of those kantor's are crooks! You have to be careful.

Kantors in shopping malls are ok. As are those in the main streets. No fear. I would use an ATM, but that's just me as I'm lazy :-)

I used to exchange in kantors but that took a lot of time and effort, now I just take some cash just in case and use atm card for convenience reason

And I think you get best rate as the banks will do their rates so no shopping around
