How would I say
"My heart has no nation.
My soul has no borders." in Polish.

How would I spell that in Polish? Any special letters?

Thanks!

Moje serce nie ma narodowości, moja dusza nie ma żadnych granic/zahamowań. But trust me, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone in Poland willing to say such a maudlin thing.

What's the difference between granic and zahamowań? Which one refers more to a country's borders?

The former.

thanks again!

I'm guessing "No nation, no borders" would be "nie narodowości, nie granic?"

Oh dang, I just googled that and found that it's kind of a part of the communist manifesto lol. Might have to rethink that some more. I'm trying to work on a tattoo that honors my Polish heritage. Unfortunately I didn't grow up with a whole lot of Polish culture.

Don't get permanent tattoo of something you have temporary knowledge. If you feel drawing on yourself is a MUST, get a Polish Eagle, or something. Free advice.

That's really good advice. I'm definitely going to spend some time thinking this one out. Might get a couple words from a Jerzy Ficowski poem instead. This won't be for at least a year :)

You don't have to say "zadnych" as in this version: Moje serce nie ma narodowości, moja dusza nie ma żadnych granic/zahamowań

In this translation "narodowosci" does not pertain to this sentence. Also "zahamowan" is not the correct choice of words here either.

The correct translation would be as follows:

"moje serce nie ma kraju, moja dusza nie ma granic"

In this translation "narodowosci" does not pertain to this sentence.

Bull mess. Saying his "heart has no nationality" makes much more sense than his heart literally has no country.

"Moje serce nie ma narodowości, moja dusza nie zna granic" it sounds a bit more poetic;)

Well LITERALLY schould it be:

My heart has no nation. My soul has no borders

Moje serce nie ma narodu. Moja dusza nie ma granic

naród - nation
narodowość - nationality

has no - nie ma

"nie zna " would be "knows no.."

You are right, but not always literal translation is the best one:) try to translate literally " do your best"!

In this case, I'm of course not any literature specialist, but I remember the expression :"Miłość nie zna granic" and in my opinion this phrase would sound better as a paraphraze :) of course I could be wrong.

Literal translation is the definition of google translate;)
"Moje serce nie ma narodowości, moja dusza nie zna granic" - that sounds very good to me and keeps the original meaning.
