My Great Grand father took part in the Battle of Warsaw!

I must have been a very young boy when he used to listen Radio Free Europe celebrating the Warsaw victory.
Given more and more sophisticated jamming sounds in the broadcast's background I wasn't able to understand the message but I still remember his words:

1920 I killed five bolsheviks with my ulan-sabre !

BTW. In my family and neighborhood he was a well-known Russophile and loved to speak Russian.
I don't remember a single negative word about Ruskies from him.
Same goes for his diary.

Hi Borrka!
Noticed this thread, and figured I should pay my respects, to your Great Grandfather.
When the situation was as bleak as it was,on August 12,1920. These soldiers did their duty.
In my books, all these soldiers were all heroes.
My Grandfather, and your Great Grandfather were alike. My Grandfather liked speaking Russian, and liked associating, and socializing with the Russian people.
I am sure your Great Grandfather would've agreed, with my Grandfather? Its not the Russian people who were the problem.
It is the people who rose to the top in Imperial Russia,Bolshevik/Soviet Russia.

Be sure that next time when Poland will be incorporated into new Russia, many Russians will display their love for their Polish brethren the same way.

My grandfather's words to Borrka's and Sok's grandfathers in 1920:

Next time I catch you two twats drinking captured Russian spirit and talking
shite while your unit is fighting a battle, you'll be court-martialed.

"Patrz Kościuszko na nas z nieba,

Jak w krwi wrogów będziem brodzić,

Twego miecza nam potrzeba,

By Ojczyznę oswobodzić.

Wolność droga w białej szacie

Złotem skrzydłem w górę leci,

Na jej czole, patrzaj bracie,

Jak swobody gwiazda świeci.

Oto jest wolności śpiew, śpiew, śpiew,

My za nią przelejem krew, krew, krew.

Kto powiedział, że Moskale

Cnymi braćmi są Lechitów,

Temu pierwszy w łeb wypalę

Przed kościołem Karmelitów;

Kto nie uczuł w gnuśnym bycie

Naszych kajdan, praw zniewagi,

To jak zdrajcy wydrę życie

Na niemszczonych kościach Pragi.

Oto jest wolności śpiew...

Z dzielnym duchem i orężem

Polak kraj swój oswobodzi,

Zdrajca pierzchnie, my zwyciężym,

Bo Kościuszko nam przewodzi.

Tylko razem, tylko w zgodzie,

A powstańcom będziem wzorem,

Wszak dyktator przy narodzie!

Cały naród z dyktatorem.

Oto jest wolności śpiew.."

Oh please take the trouble to translate... Taking into account those sums Russian government paid Kostushko, this polonez should be written in Russian.

Nope. I am Russian, so they were. I do not care about their political views.

I am Russian, so they were.

I'm quite sure there were many Ukrainians, Jews, Belorussians, Georgians and probably
a dozen of other nationalities among Bolsheviks, not only Russians.

Anyway, no matter their nationality, they were invaders. They entered the nest
of the White Eagle and met its wrath. That's what - sooner or later, happens
to all invaders of the holy Polish land.

I am Russian, so they were.

Ah! You are being tribal ! Well, Russia is not well known for tribalism but why not give it try.
However, I think that Bolshevisms was a very harmful to Russia.

I have to remind you that this "nest" during at least 120 years was the part of Russia.

However, I think that Bolshevisms was a very harmful to Russia.

What makes you think so? My opinion is quite opposite. I think that bolshevizm was the force of renewing for Russian Empire and therefore desirable and even more - natural phenomenon.

Even Great Civil War had positive sides because it leveled population both in social (removing nobility) and ethnical (mixing various nationalities) aspects.

The Polish young in the Ukraine commemorating the youngsters who perished defending their country against Budjony's hordes at the battle of Zadwóreze, in the defence of their country and civilization.

civilization

Ha! Great Polish civilization! There are no limits for Polish megalomania. Pyramid builders, indeed!

Well, Poland only got independence in 1918 because of the defeat/retreat of the partitioning powers - it wasn't as if Poland actually secured her own independence (except in Wielkopolska). And it was reliant on Wilson and a few others to actually agree to it - otherwise Poland would have continued to be a non-State.

It could in all fairness be said that only Germany met any sort of wrath at the end of WWI. Likewise in 1989 - the only reason Poland was freed was because the Soviet Union had lost interest. It wasn't a victory by Poles, but rather a decision by the masters.

(but - of course, history is littered with examples where Poland defeated a fair few invaders!)

However, I think that Bolshevisms was a very harmful to Russia.

Hard to tell really - if the Tsars had fallen without a strong government to replace them, the country may very well have exploded in ethnic violence and there would be no Russian Federation today.

What makes you think so? My opinion is quite opposite.

Well, before Russia was country which in a way was developing naturally, and has every chance to evolve into powerful and rich country. Using her natural resources to the advantage of her citizens.

Bolshevism achieved monstrous and crippled Superpower- which was strong only in military might for a while! Build on countless bodies and by countless crimes, which wasn't really necessary.

natural phenomenon.

Noting natural in Bolshevism supported by German General Staff - all top revolutionistwere traitors of Russia!

Even Great Civil War had positive sides because it leveled population both in social (removing nobility) and ethnical (mixing various nationalities) aspects.

I don't think is positive, you are for homogeneous spineless blob - typical horde like civilization. A leader is a law and a rest is to obey or else!

I think that such country is primitive and hopeless in the long run.

Ha! Great Polish civilization! There are no limits for Polish megalomania. Pyramid builders, indeed!

Oh come now Costi, do you really underestimate the potential of your eastern hordes to create havoc and damage?

I don't think is positive, you are for homogeneous spineless blob - typical horde like civilization. A leader is a law and a rest is to obey or else!
I think that such country is primitive and hopeless in the long run.

No need for that, they already were an amalgam of central Asia. Stalin was a typical example and so was Lenin, so I can understand their urge for all Russians to look like them.

I have to remind you that this "nest" during at least 120 years was the part of Russia.

Only a part of it, but yes - the Russian bear had put his stinking feet in our land
for 120 years . Luckily it had to run away and in 1920 was owned like a bear-bit*ch
by the undefeated Wojsko Polskie. European History 101.

Great Polish civilization!

Yes. The unique Latin/Slavic civilization. The eternal glory of Poland, The First Rzeczpospolita,
will last forever, even though our glorious civilization fell under the invasion of Mongols from
the East and Teutons From West and South. They partitioned us, but now both the mongols
and the teutons are gone and the Holy Poland - Przenajświętsza Rzeczpospolita is free again!

That's what - sooner or later, happens
to all invaders of the holy Polish land.

Again this "holy" !!! Please end up with this second-grade "God-chosen" idea. Here you cannot expect to emulate the success of Jews.

I don't think is positive, you are for homogeneous spineless blob - typical horde like civilization. A leader is a law and a rest is to obey or else!

Both Russia and Germany have something special that Poland is deprived of. History itself is beating you constantly trying to teach you one simple truth. All in vain! Unity is the force.

I fail to understand you (I mean Poles), are you idiots? History have granted you perfect chance to reconcile your own historical experience with the same of your immediate neighbours. Instead you produce only quarrels over corps. Your sobbing is unlimited and produces only reverse effect. You do not have your own national idea except two, actually necrophilic ones, - mourning over lost ambitions and Katyn's corpses. Devastating ideas.

The unique Latin/Slavic civilization.

Ah, common, it looks great in your opinion only! Nobody abroad cares about you "grandeur". Do you think that Brits pay great attention that their plumbers or waitresses are actually represent "great civilization"? You absolutely ludicrous. Your "civilization" will perish and no one will notice this universal collapse.

No need for that, they already were an amalgam of central Asia. Stalin was a typical example and so was Lenin, so I can understand their urge for all Russians to look like them.

Do you still assert that Poles do not have potentially dangerous racist traits lurked deep inside?

Again this "holy" !!!

Of course. Are you not aware of the fact that Poland is the Christ of Nations?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ_of_Europe

Do you think that Brits pay great attention that their plumbers or waitresses are actually
represent "great civilization"?

That's completely irrelevant. It is you, Russians, who are so insecure about yourselves
that you have to worry what others think of you and your culture. We are above all that.
We are Poles - they Royal Tribe of Piast, the Sons of the White Eagle, Servants of Jesus
Christ Our Lord and Saint Mary Queen of Poland. You can love us or hate us - we don't care.

Your "civilization" will perish and no one will notice this universal collapse.

Yes, yes - we've been hearing that for well over 1000 years now (and yet, somehow, we're still here :))

I also find peculiar this idea of Poland as the Holy land.I mean really guys do you believe that?Because if you believe that it is very easy to turn you into a tool.

Okey

Taking into account those sums Russian government paid Kostushko, this polonez should be written in Russian

wow the Russians actually did somethign for Poland? Thanks first time Ive heard of something like that

"Look down at us from heaven Kościuszko,

Like in the blood of our enemies we will (brodzić = from bród? (dirt?) ),

We need your sword (or "it's needed by us" if one can say that),

To liberate our fatherland (homeland?).

Expensive freedom in a white sheet

With a golden wing upwards it fly (flies? :S),

On her forehead, look dhy brother,

Like soverenity star lights.

That's fredoms sing, sing, sing,

We will spill for her blood, blood, blood.

Who said that the Moscals

Are the brothers of Lechs (No idea what Cnymi means),

The first ill bash his skull

Infront of the Church of Karmelitów;

Whom didn't learn/felt in gnuśnym existance (can't remember what gnósny means :/)

Our chains, laws of dishonor,

Then like a traitor ill pull his life out of him

On the unrevenged bones of Praha (a part of Warsaw, not the Czech capitol).

That's freedoms...

With the brave spirit and banner

The Pole will liberate his country,

The traitor will (breath out? March out? Get tired?), we will have victory,

Cause Kościuszko leads us.

Only together, only in harmony,

And for the insurgents he will be their example,

The dictator is still by the nation!

The whole nation with the dictator.

That's the freedoms song.."

*I may have some wrongs I hope some Poles that know old Polish can correct me :)*

Christ Our Lord and Saint Mary Queen of Poland. You can love us or hate us - we don't care.

Oh, Christ! So, next time when Russians and/or Germans will f*ck your state, you will be proudly singing Kostushko's polonez lying on your backs?
Mr Grunwald 33 | 2,176

you will be proudly singing Kostushko's polonez

don't think that many people know it, I just found it on the internet

But don't caring for for what others think about us and what Germans&Russians think about us, are two different things aye? Cause Germans&Russians are a very very special breed? ;)
