Trying to locate information on my Great Uncle Frank Pryeor

I need help finding information on my Grandfather and his brother. My Grandfather John Przewor came from Brzezowka, Austria in 1907. His brother was already here in Fall River, MA using the English spelling his name Frank Pryeor.

I would like to trace the family back to Poland to find any other family members, as my Mom does not know if her father had any other siblings. If anyone can translate the Baptism Certificate that would help.

The certificate can be viewed at photobucket with the password :"Superpole"

Thank you all for helping in this quest.

PRZEWOR: possibly from przewora, the stall wall separating one horse from another in a stable; or toponymic tag from Przewory or Przeworsk.

Thank you for the information. I already know that Klos my father's surname means the kernel of wheat, or so I've been told.

I already know that Klos my father's surname means the kernel of wheat

KLOS is also a California rock station. Some folks refer to it as KLSD

Actually a kłos is an ear of corn (wheat, rye, etc.) which comprises several kernels.

All I can read from that certificate is that he was baptised on the 25th May 1890. It happened within the parish of Tarnowiec, but I can't make out the name of the village.

It also lists the mother and father (looks like Jozef and Ludowica) and the godparents, Johannes and Genowefa, but I can't rear the priest's abysmal handwriting enough to make out any surnames.

I did not include the HTTP in the address to the certificate as I had not yet registered and it would not let me. Just add http to the beginning of the address.

And thank you Richfilth for the information, I'll try to use that to search for relatives in Poland.

It happened within the parish of Tarnowiec, but I can't make out the name of the village.

The name of the village is Tywonia, in the district of Jaroslaw. I googled it and Tywonia is 4 km away from Jaroslaw and just over 100 kms from Tarnowiec

The father is Josephus which is latin for Józef, last name Przewor, resident (incola) of Tywonia (district Jaroslaw), son of Josephus Przewor and Agatha (Agata) maiden name Kosik .

Mother is Ludovica (Ludwika) daughter of Nicolai (Mikołaj) can't read his last name and Marianna, unable to read the rest

I think that Nikolai's last is Sołtys (it means a village leader in Polish, ) relatively commom last name

Dear Zazulka;
Thank you for the information, much of it I did not know. I will now try to use it to locate any relatives that still live in Poland.

Thanks again;
Joe Klos
