Really? I thought it was very strange that they got people who obviously don't drink much to do the tasting. The fact that one person thought Zywiec was an ale and everyone's reactions to Zubrowka (which is not that strong, and is quite sweet when it comes to vodka) made it seem like this was the first time they were trying alcohol, never mind Polish drinks...

Ah, if you're used to drinking vodka without a mixer maybe, but in Ireland only alcoholics drink straight vodka :D
So, y'know the Irish ain't used to drinking vodka without any coke/7up/tonic

I hated zubrowka my first time too, loved krupnik and wisniowka though, still do. Zywiec is crap though, gotta be the worst of the mass market beers here

It is the only proper way to drink vodka for Slavic people. But the Irish are not Slavs so they can do it their own way. :]

So how do they drink their whiskeys - still 40%?

wisniowka

Old ladies drink ;-)

Zywiec

It definitely has the most character out of most popular ones.

he worst of the mass market beers here

That honour would go to Tyskie for my taste... absolutely bland.

From what I've seen the Poles just make a 2 step process out of it. They knock back the vodka and then wash it down with some coke/other mixer standing by in a glass.

Must be - last time I was there I couldn't believe how popular American Bud was amongst the young and hip... with all the great Guinness, Murphy's, ciders, etc. on tap why would anyone drink Bud is beyond me... must be marketing winning and/or the desire to appear different.

Yea that's certainly true, there sure is a lot of really, really crappy beers in the pubs in Ireland

It's finally changing a bit now, it's absolute marketing though, you're certainly correct there, it's shameful really that so many people drink crap like Bud/Miller/Carlsberg/Heineken etc.

Everytime I go home I usually buy some Polish or GErman beer from Lidl and stick to Guinness in the local pub :)

From all those 4 you mentioned Miller is the worst by far, I mean seriously, Miller is the gayest thing ever.

The old miller bottles and labels are classics of great design, but it's terrible beer with an awful soapy aftertaste... blchhhhh

As are all the beers sold in clear bottles - beer is sensitive to light and cannot stay good without having tons of chemical additives in it to stop that process. But the choice is yours.
