Hi. I got the job offer from multinational IT based company in Gdansk of 3800 pln gross. I am in my early 20, willing to work hard and much.

For a probation period my only wish is to keep my mind and body at a good conditions, so what I need is one bedroom flat or small studio, normal food, some leisure activities, finally some money for transportation, mobile.

The job is from monday to friday, 9-6.
Is the company offer fair at this point?

Where are you from? It doesn't sound adequate to be honest especially if you are relocating.

3800 Gross is around 720 Euros (or less) netto.

Personally i would not realocate for a salary like that. If you are thinking about save some money, forget it.

3800 pln gross

That's rather low. Too low to consider relocating to Poland for, even for an entry-level job.

I would have to relocate from one of the nearest Poland's neighbors and since i really want to leave my motherland, i am blinded by any possibility to leave, no matter how low is the offer.

But here i got 3 negative answers, so now i am in a crossroad...

I think you should take the job. The salary isn't huge but it's certainly enough to live on for somebody in their 20s, and enough to find a small studio somewhere like Gdansk and have money left over.

You don't say which neighbouring country you're from, however I'm guessing it isn't Germany or Czech, so I'd say yes, this is an opportunity to get your foot on the ladder here in Poland.

If it doesn't work out, you can always return and you'll have something interesting on your CV as well as having lived somewhere else.

Hi Boogooy,

3800 is quite standard for an entry level IT job. GdaƄsk along with Sopot and Gdynia which are close by are really nice cities and the IT workers market is growing there. ( although not as fast as for instance Warsaw, Cracow or Wroclaw ). The salary will definitely be enough for a 20 something person. Depending on what's your trade you can probably get a much bigger salary in ~2-3 years.

I agree with jon. Your decision is not something cast in stone, you can always change it.

Good luck and hopefully welcome to Poland :)

The analysis you would have to do is how many dollars you are able to save at the end of the month. If it turns out that you would be able to put away more cash in Poland than in your own country, go for it. You will lose your home court advantage, like knowing how to live cheaply in your country, get help from family and friends, or take advantage of connections you have already made. So even if you earn less in your home country, it may turn out that you might be able to save more. You'll have to do the math, though.

Generally, though, Poland is a country that exports IT personnel, rather than imports them, especially for entry-level positions. 3800 PLN a month works out to about $13,000 US a year, which is about a third or even less than you would earn in the US or in Western Europe for an entry-level IT job. So if your main goal is to eventually migrate further west, as I gather is the case, then saving up as much as possible should be your highest priority so that you are able to move comfortably when the time comes.

As Dominic alreary stated, to move as an expatriate your analysis should be completely different than the analysis of a Pole. A Pole doesnt need to be really concerned with savings since probably he will live and die in Poland.

But as an expat, you should think about save in your bank account something, and with that salary is very unlikely that you will save something.

That's terrible money, Jesus to even consider moving here they'd want to offer you that per week.
