Salary Expectations Question (Krakow, Fund Accounting)

Morning all

Prior to getting an interview with an American fund administration company, I have been asked what my salary expectations are. If that question was asked in my own country, I could answer, but here, I can't.

With about five years experience, but only one promotion during that time, does anyone have any ideas as to what I should say (net or gross)?

Are you basing that on actual experience? I ask as I read on a different thread on PF that it could be 8,000 zl per month (net or gross, it didn't say).

Your salary would be - depending on details such as: languages or duties etc - between 3500 PLN and 5500 PLN. Gross of course.

Also, your response, was that an average or an absolute min - max amount?

Merged: Salary Expectations/Polish Law - Fund Accounting

I recently had the HR dept from a fund admin company ring me to arrange an interview, but before we could do one, I was asked what my salary expectations were. I answer (6k zl - I have experience in case you want to call me greedy) and was told that was too much. I then asked what should it be more like, to which HR said under Polish law that can not be disclosed. Without revealing the company/city, my question to PF is:

1. is that about Polish law true
and
2. how much do fund administrator in PL get (between 3 and 6 years experience)

No, it's utter rubbish. What kind of law would stop them from offering you a salary?

I'd have just gone to 5.9k, 5.8k and so on until they agreed, and also ask for a "favoured nations" clause to ensure that they aren't stiffing you.

State Street are advertising again looking for Fund Accountants. To me, there's no point in sending CV or even going for an interview unless you know what the salary is. You will waste time and money and at the end, they might offer you 2K - what is the point?

Ridiculous. Just ask them which law they are talking about... and also ask them to put themselves into your shoes.

Logically if you answered 6 k and they replied with this fallacious pretext of not beeing able to disclose a salary under Polish law, it means that they are offering peanuts and ashamed of it...

This is what i suspect, there aren't many positive things being said about St8Street on the net


What is this clause?

Essentially, it means no-one else doing the same job as you can earn more than you. If someone does, then they have to increase your pay accordingly. I have it in my work, for instance.

Not popular in Europe, but worth asking for all the same.

Good effort ! they are really rare over here.

Won't work in accounting however - if someone does the "same" work as you but quicker and with less mistakes the employer is obviously going to pay them more.

I wouldnt listen too much to what is on internet forums on these self certified employee things - if you are concerned about things then ask at interview but they are probably not desperate - the pendulum is swinging back to employers now.

State Street pays about 3 000 zl a month ( not much for sure!) and they seem to be looking forward to hiring students or employees on the cheap.

For a student this kind of salary is ok ...
