if 2000 PLN is gross salery then your ~40% will go into tax (18%) and zus. Even if it is net salary its too low in my opinion. decent 1 room apartment will cost you (~800-1000 PLN), food per month if you eat cheaply (~400 PLN). There are other expenses to take care of. So basically it would be very very tight if you spend wisely, and you will save none.

~40% will go into tax (18%) and zus
you mean 40% deductions= 18% tax and 'zus' (i dont know what it is) will be 22%?? So out of whatever I earn 40% will never be seen????
and for the room which you say is going to be around 800-1000zl where do you think i can get a decent room from?? any idea?
ZUS is social security system in poland.
it comprises of:
pension: 9,76%
other pension : 1,50%
sickenes insurance:2,45%
health insurance:9,00%
Yes it will just vaporise.

Not as much as this. I used to earn this a while ago and was taking home 1500, so at this earning level it's about 25 % . Half of ZUS is covered by company, and there is also small tax free amount, but this is way too little to live normal life in Krakow. Even 2000 nett is too little.
I eat only lamb and chicken as meat.
Ooops. Bad news first. Lamb, as not too popular, is very expensive in Poland.
The best option is to buy a lamb and process it on your own. 300 PLN for a 16-18 kilo lamb.
young jagniaki ( inks ) weigh about 16-18 kg -price 300 zł
older sheep ( inks ) about 25-30 kg - price 250
Breeding sheep at the same prices
Herd is under veterinary care , the whole farm is within the ambit of agri- environmental program
Cultivation of rolled based on 100% of natural feed
possibility of greater amounts of Sales
if you wish to purchase , please contact us
And good news for a change. Chicken, as very popular, is very cheap in Poland.
Half of ZUS is covered by company, and there is also small tax free amount
So it is calculated a bit same as in UK?? Like you have a yearly allowance of £7475 which is tax free? And your National Insurance (ZUS in Poland) is partly contributed by the employer?
Because if half of my pay is going to the government then I think I will need to request an increase that salary scale.
I have been on one website just now, calculatenetsalary (dot) com and they are showing a net monthly income of 1640zl @ 2000zl.
So what you think todays rate is in Krakow for a customer service advisor (language) or how much should some1 earn so that they can keep aside around 200-300zl/month?

lol! yeah thanks! I think it will be better to go to the countryside and get a farming job as living in Krakow would be impossible if they take 40% out of my 2000zl.

What i wrote was only employee contributions towards ZUS.

No you do not. It is perfectly possible to legally not pay ZUS.
I thought its mandotory ! once i told i want to opt out but my employer said its not possible. Are u sure of that ?
If you have a full-time job (etat), then ZUS is taken out of your wages. If you have what Poles call 'umowa śmieciowa' (trash contract), a short-term job agreement, you may pay it out of your own pocket but you do not have to.
Part of that is tax deductible. There are salary calculators available on some Polish websites, I'll find one and send link tomorrow.

I've been in Poland for five years. I pay taxes but I don't pay ZUS. I pay 80zl a month for my private medical insurance. I'm American, have a karta pobytu and a contract with my school as an employee, and that's honored by the government. There are other ways to avoid paying ZUS but I won't go into them here.

Depends on the type of contract (umowa zlecenie or umowa o dzieło). But if you run your own business, you must pay it.
Some 22% of my salary is going in this god damn Zeus thing from which I don't benefit at all. What r the provisions for opting out of it. Please enlighten me.
I know a lawyer in Krakow who earns 1500zl after tax. He's an actual lawyer working at a firm and regularly travels to Warsaw. Make of that what you will. Not everyone earns millions of PLN in Krakow.

Work on umowa o dzieło and pay the medical insurance by yourself. Not possible if you're a full time employee though.
13000 zl a month will be more than enough to live comfortably.

Merged: what is the net salary of 5000 pln gross and is it enough for living in krakow?
Hello guys,
I would like to ask you something and I would appreciate any help...
What will be the net ammount of a 5000 pln gross salary, because I'm a little bit comfused. I've read that the tax is 18% and the zus (national health insurance) for 2012 is about 23%,that means a total rate 41% off from the gross salary. The recruiter from the company told me that the rate of reductios is almost 33% (1/3 of the gross salary). What is finally issued?
I'm going to ask 5000 pln gross per month, do you think that this salary is quiet enough for living in krakow?
logically the net salary will be about 3300 pln (if I count the 33% off and not the 41%), I've searched on the internet and I found that for a 1 bed appartment an ammount of at least 1800 pln is needed (all included, e.g. Rent, asministrative costs, heating, water, electricity, internet). Is it true or I really have to spend more just for accommodation?
The rest 1500 pln, do you think are enough for food, transportation, cigarettes, going out once a week and generally just for living in krakow?
if I'll not be given this salary, what, in your opinion, I should accept in order to cover my above needs?
Thank you in advanced, appreciating any provided help...

5000 is more than enough. i get around the same and i have 1200zl left for my self! And thats enough for one person ( or 2). For example i pay 1200zl for my studio wich is close to Rynek & Main Station (10min walk) and i pay some like 400zl for my car. And rest goes to my wallet!

Merged:Working and living in Krakow for about 5000 zl / month.
Hello there !
I have been offered a job in Krakow for about 5000 zl / month.
I really don't know anything about Poland or living costs or taxes. I'm single and I don't have any friends or relatives there.
Do you think I should go for it and can I afford living there with such salary ?
Thanks !

Hi
Is this before or after tax?
If before tax forget about this, it will give you about 3.5k.
You'll need about 2k to rent a small flat, 300-400 bills, at least 1k for food, so nothing will left.
What kind of position is this?

I have to agree with Zetkom. Your lodging together with utilities and internet are going to set you back some 2000 to 2500 PLN. Public transportation another 100 PLN. You'll spend about 1000 to 1500 PLN on food. That leaves little, if anything, left over for other expenses with a net salary of only 3500 PLN.
The move is not worth it. You'll be struggling to make ends meet.
5000 zl before taxes is OK to live comfortably in Krakow. Small apartments rent for less than 2000, see here:
dom.gratka.pl/mieszkania/krakow/wynajem
Nice city, good night life, etc.. I say, go for it.

Come on, many foreigner's in this city work's and lives for less!
Even if the 5click are before taxes, he'll still make 3,5 and then just simply rent a room for 1000ZL including bills and he'll have around 2,5 PLN to enjoy which is enough to live quiet comfortable.
So assuming your young, and don't mind renting a nice room instead of your own flat I def say go for it.

the position is related to technical customer support / Networks / IT.
I have 5 years of experience in that field , do you think I've been paid too low ?

No. Not at all. That's even more than what I would expect for that type of job and your experience.
Again, unless you're willing to live very basically and on a tight budget, there is no point in taking the job. If you're willing to rent a room instead of your own apartment, you can live more comfortably, but still won't be able to save up much. The only reason to take the job would be to get work experience, and there are better options for doing so in your case.
