Is it a full time job and did you ask for 1700 zł? If yes then it is definitely not too much. I work in Warsaw and earn more than that.

1700 Netto?? Zloty??

Thats 400 Euro .. you get 400 Euro in Germany from the government, when you are unemployed .. and they though pay you an whole flat till 50 qm ..

400 Euro students and pupils get, what is called "BaföG" ..

Do you really still want to work in Lodz, even full time??

i work from 9 to 1:25
i worked with the hour system for 3 months , now I want a fixed payment and I guess they will give me 1700 brutto which is not enough and not fair !

and they already feel 1700 is too much

:) am just asking , so that if turns out that it's too late and am not being "spoiled" I would ask for 1700 netto (which is enough for me at the moment) and if not I would leave the job so easily :)

Try Warsaw perhaps, if you're a native and you're good you can get up to a few thousand monthly. As a private tutor you'll naturally earn more too.

if I asked for 1700 netto

Would that cover rent for a small apartment and expenses? How many hours teaching(including class prep time)?

1700 Netto?? Zloty??

Thats 400 Euro .. you get 400 Euro in Germany from the government, when you are unemployed ..

and more than double that in Ireland, and three to four times that for flipping burgers in McDonald's, or packing shelves in Tesco.

4 and a half hours a day 5 days a week that makes 22.5 hours a week times by 4 weeks is 90 a month that means your getting around 18pln an hour which is rubbish for a teacher I think the school are taking advantage I know people in Krakow and Katowice and they are paid 45pln per 45minute lesson I also know a guy in poznan who gets 60pln a lesson from a school my advise look around a find someone whose not going to low ball you

To the OP

I have no idea why Polish teachers and university lecturers don't strike - the salary is criminal with a capital C - but then again, the system is set up so that too many people are teaching.

It's not an elite profession here and desperately needs reform, or sorting out, more like!

Now where is Delph and his insight when we need it :(
