Juche, for a NK guy, you sure do seem to know a lot about Polish demographics and social trends. Are you privy to figures that others aren't?

Interesting. What made you choose Poland? Does your salary meet your expectations? Much better than in NK I imagine.

Aren't your travel rights restricted as a NK national?

Excellent, Juche. Nothing like receiving priveleges. How do you find the level of English of your co-workers?

Has your salary been affected by the crisis? Just incidentally, why the hostility towards Japan?

as the crisis is creation of corrupt capitalistic system it does not affect working masses of North Korea. my salary pays in North Korea Won and is not affect by fluctuations of your curreny.

English level of my coworkers is various, many speak other language but no English. My comrade sitting next to my desk speak ALbanian and Estonian and Finnish but no English!

I took some time to find this. I had previously read about the faltering Hungarian economy.

You are right, the crisis took full hold there, almost to the extent that it did in Iceland in parts.

As Putin said, America created this through corrupt organizations. Now the IMF are bailing out, further complicating the circulation of cash.

Some here in Poland are willing to accept pay cuts, as long as they don't lose their jobs. I've had to accept one due to a tightening of belts. It's good for me though, I like to save. Still, a nest egg is good for my forthcoming huge payments.

you will beat financial crisis by refusing cable television, swithc to pre-pay sim card for cell phone, and eating roots and tubers.

I plan to visit Poland for the first time in 2010. Doubt if I'll live there but am curious to know how far $5000 a month (pension) will go. I speak Polish and have some cousins there.

Let me make myself clear from the off set, I am not racist, prejudice or hateful toward anyone making a living in this world as long as they make an honest living, but since Polish came to Jersey I have found a lot of them dishonest, deceitful and downright greedy.

My friend owns a night club and has caught more than 50 Polish staff in 3 years stealing from him and his customers. They give free drinks to their friends, take tips when they are not offered them, when offered a drink they choose the most expensive or a double of their favourite.

The girls flirt with older men to have them spend money on them even though in their own country it is laughed at for a younger women to be with a man old enough to be her father. Also they will lie about ever sleeping with the older boyfriend.

If this is just a minority I hope the decent Polish people will condemn this behaviour and pass the message on that “You don’t bite the hand that feeds you”.

And before anyone comments about slave labour in the UK, all races are paid the same in every job here regardless of where they are from.

There are good and bad in every country, I’m just disappointed in seeing more bad than good in Polish in Jersey, What has gone wrong?

fifty is a big number. when one sees a bad pattern it's best to change the system. don't employ Polish staff.

or is there more to this. they are bringing in the customers, the wages aren't high enough for locals etc.

What has gone wrong?

Wrong wording in the job advertisements?

They give free drinks to their friends,

I get free drinks in my local from the manager, who is only installed by the brewery. She's not Polish.

Incidentally, if anyone is giving away free drinks it should be docked from their pay. Or your friend didn't realise that?

when offered a drink they choose the most expensive or a double of their favourite.

See, that's just smart.

man as a first job in an international company here, and i mean starting from the lower level you will usually earn 4000zl per month gross. that means around 2900zl on your hand cause the taxes are quite high. so it wont be difference than the 700euros that you would earn in greece as a first job. the difference is that here this salary is enough for living independent and usually in big international corporations the are a lots of opportunities for a career fast. good luck with your dicisions..

Wages in Poland

A lot has been posted as to what people earn in Poland, a lot of trolls for some unknown reason have either inflated or made earnings in Poland very low. This tread is not for people who have there own agenda but for those who wish to help people who may be interested in settling in Poland now or later on.

I ask for people who live in Poland and are employed to give there honest account in want they earn ie cash in hand per month and what they spend on ie rent, food etc.

People who wish to talk nonsense please go elsewhere.
I ask for what you earn, type of work and monthly costs etc. thanks

I am currently earning around the 2000zł in hand at the end of the month. I pay 1000zł rent and normally about 100zł a week on food. The rest goes on nights out, etc. I would not say it was a totally comfortable amount, at the end of the month I am still struggling, but it is enough to live on.

That and I am taking on a second job soon which should up the casual spending money a bit.

Most people I know get about 2000 zl per month in a medium sized city.
Rent (incl. bills) 1000 zl
Food 400-500 zl per month.

The biggest problems is that it's difficult to get any other job than teaching English if you don't speak very good Polish. And the unemployment rate is high, so there are a lot of Poles competing for the jobs with you. And of course, for most jobs, they prefer to hire a Pole.

I ask for what you earn, type of work and monthly costs etc. thanks

You should also ask where they live. Wages and cost of living varies a lot in PL.

My partner is looking for work at the moment in Gdansk, the average she is being offered for shop or hotel work is around 1500 PZL PER MONTH This is after tax. They do have a minimum wage here, it's 1200 PZL PER MONTH. We rent a one bed room flat (part furnished) in the city centre, it cost 850 PZL per month plus bills. The bills are around 250 PZL per month. That is quite cheap for Gdansk and we were lucky to find it, the average is around 1000 PZL PER MONTH, for one room. Food and stuff is quite cheap here, you should be able to get by on around 100 to 150 PZL per week, that's with eating out and tea, coffee's out. There are not loads of jobs around, but they say you can find one if you look hard enough!!! Time will tell. Hope this helps.

rough example of Costs in Warsaw: about 1000 PLN for mortgage payment (obviously more per month if you rent a two room flat), about 100 PLN every few months for gas, same for electric, 45 every month for internet, PLN 78 monhly for transit card, plus give or take another 100 PLN for the random odd bill here and there. This means that for the basics of living I pay about 1200 zlotts, but if you rent a one room flat of average quality and location you will likely pay about 300-400 more per month. I'm guessing.

Food is obviously something I havent added, as some people are either gluttons or food snobs and they pay much more than I do, or they skimp on whatever they can and live off of the cheap nasty stuff, which means they pay less. Whenever I buy groceries for a few days in advance I seem to pay around 30-40 zlotts, but I generally stay away from the caviar isle. Orange juice (1L) costs about 5 pln, as does a bag of pasta.

As for wages it depends. I know people who earn about 1500-1700 per month, they are teachers or work in shops, or entry level jobs in various firms (mailroom or whatever).

I also know lots of freelancers who earn anywhere between 500 and 3000 PLN per month (occasionally more), it just depends on the quantity of work. This includes freelance teachers, translators, or graphic designers.

I also know some people who have cushy jobs which pay more (8000-15,000 PLN monthly), in many cases these jobs were arranged by influential friends, unless of course they really do involve some hot in-demand specialised field.

My girlfriend makes about 2200 after taxes doing accountancy work for a big company, and teaches on the side for extra income. We pay 2800 a month in rent for a large prewar apartment, and about 500 a month for bills and internet/cable. A friend of mine is a software developer (doesn't speak Polish) and makes 3500 after taxes, pays 1500 a month all in for his newly built place.

edit: we live in wroclaw

I don't want to say how much I earn now (or what I spend) but when I used to teach English (here in Warsaw) I was taking home 6,000zl a month average. It could have been more but I wasn't working particularly hard.
