Is it possible to live on 2200zł a month in Poland (teaching position)

I am considering apply for a teaching position in Poland, and the net pay is 2200zlts per month.
Although, I wouldn't have to pay rent, I was just curious as to whether or not 2200zlts per month
would be enough money to cover basic necessities(groceries, utility bills, etc.)?

consider hidden costs: phone bill, evenings out, transport, food. i also doubt that you'll be paid during school breaks/holidays.

It all depends on how extravagant your lifestyle is. I have lived in Poland for three years and (based on my own costs) reckon you should allow as follows:

. internet/telephone (land line) 120 zł/month
. basic food 500 zł/month
. electricity (includes hot water) 150 zł/month

You say you won't be paying rent... but what about council tax, property insurance etc? Heating cost during the winter months could add another 300 zł/month, or so, for an average flat... and depends on how cold/long the winter is.

Public transport by bus is very reliable and cheap. Local journeys are just a few złoty each way.

So, yes, on 2200 zł per month (without rent/mortgage) you could live basically, but reasonably well. But, if you drink, smoke, go clubbing in tourist joints, eat out in tourist joints, want to have a car, entertain, buy fancy clothes, use your mobile phone a lot (or for internet access), etc etc you will definitely need an evening job also!

I've lived here for six years. You can do it on 2200zl (nett?) if you don't have to pay rent. After rent, I pay 82zl a month for internet and basic cable (UPC), about 20zl for gas and about 120zl for electricity. Heating etc is in my rental p[ayment and I use a mobile. No landline. Who needs one?

I budget about 50zl a day for expenses-food, smokes, beer etc, but obviously some days I pay more, especially when I go to restaaurants.

The answer to your question is what kind of lifestyle do you want to live while you're here.

If you teach English in Poland, you will have an evening job. Probably split ***** which include morning lessons followed by after/evening lessons.

50ZL per day is a good budget.

And then on the weekend's maybe 100 per day.

That'll still give you around 4-500 ZL for unexpected expenses.

No, it's not possible to live here on that wage, tell them to add 1000zl to it and then you might think about their crap offer.

They're ripping you off before you even start, plus they won't pay you for holidays, bank holidays nor include health insurance or social insurance etc.

I agree with smurf. As for teaching position 2200 zl. is not a lot but living for it is possible. I earn less and I have to survive. What's more, I even manage to pay for my post diplomma studies.

No, it's not possible to live for 2200. Unless you have family support.

Hi! Of course some people live or rather survive with almost nothing but it's generally not a choice. There is a huge difference between locals with family support and foreigners. With 2,000, we can survive in Warsaw but impossible for instance to buy nice clothes (as expensive or even more expensive than in Western Europe or the US), to go out a lot and to fancy places, to travel and to face high expenses like for instance dental care. And also what contrat does employer offer? If "umowa o dzieło, which is normal for "lektorzy", teacher is paid only when working and thus no holidays, no sick leave, no health insurance, no retirement etc etc... Even with "umowa o pracy" and unless desperate or from 3rd world, not worth it!

i lived in poland for 4 months. it's possible to live on that but you'd be in a lower quality flat. if you had a roommate you can live on that fairly well but you couldnt afford a car or to eat our very much.
