Opening a kindergarten / daycare business in Poland

Hi,

I've couple of queries regarding opening a business in Poland
1. Is there any funding available from the EU or the local government? If so where to begin
2. How much finance we must have for this project considering it will be a medium scale business in podlaskie province
3. What are the legal laws and requirements
4. Is there a lot of competition in this field

My wife has master in pedagogy from Poland and we are contemplating if it would be a good idea.

As for EU funding, you need to check at the local job centre (urząd pracy) if there are any grants available and what the conditions are.

As for competition, it also depends on the location. If you're thinking about this school year, it's the first year of the new educational reform and even schools offer daycare and classes for kids as young as 4-year-olds so that teachers won't lose jobs.

Starting a business in Poland is said to be easier than it used to be but it still requires lots of paperwork and coping with ZUS. Private kindergartents are not uncommon in Poland, though, so I guess the idea may work out and your wife should be able to find some useful information online from people who have experience in it. Just do a little research first.

finance

Suggestion : do the fees analysis with another kindergarten and come up with better fees price :)
come up with international language teacher(obviously english)
Also come up with direct contract with employer for their employee then it will give more benefit to your business.

Contact the local government in the area in question. You'll get a monthly subsidy provided it meets the requirements to obtain the subsidy.

2. How much finance we must have for this project considering it will be a medium scale business in podlaskie province

Roughly 25,000PLN per classroom minimum. The rest is your choice.

3. What are the legal laws and requirements

Many. Not impossible, but many. Ask the local authority and the MEN for more information.

About competition - yes, there's huge competition.

If you're serious about it, I'm willing to have a chat with you about it. I've been involved in founding a school and a kindergarten, and I'm now taking part in the formation of a brand new school.

I've been involved in founding a school

Perhaps King92 should ask you if you would like to share the name of that school as we find that very hard to believe with the problems that you've had with the last school you worked at.

Something to do with a lawsuit if we remember correctly.
Doubtful that you could produce the name of any such school.
Perhaps you could at least tell us what year you supposedly founded this school. lol

I'm now taking part in the formation of a brand new school.

What part ? What is your title ? Does it have anything to do with the administration planning board of this school or just an organizer for field trips for first graders ?

King92, this guy (from Scotland) is one shady character so before you share any of your personal information with him proceed with EXTREME caution.
He has been know to throw a monkey wrench into anyone's plans that compete with his employment in Poland.

Does she have any experience working in a kindergarten/daycare facility? I would strongly advise her to get at least a year of experience before making the jump, because it can be a very tiring and draining experience. I've got plenty of friends who burnt out badly after 3-4 years working in one, particularly as the demands from parents were relentless.

I can tell you that it's a very easy business to break even in, but it's difficult to make a profit from it. Location is everything, and for instance, if you find a small town where public kindergarten provision is poor, then a public kindergarten (which will be funded 100% by the local authority) will be a very easy business to run compared to a private kindergarten.

All in all, you can start a nursery within 6 months of starting to plan for it, as long as you work full time on it.

ok well i guess it would be better if my wife gets atleast couple years of experience before we indulge in this project and maybe this same experience will provide us with a better grant% from the EU

Alternatively, what other business opportunities are available with a capital of 70k

I wouldn't rely much on EU grants - the process is very difficult, and it favours those who have the know-how to write successful applications. But yes, I'd strongly recommend that she gets a couple of years experience. A good idea is to work in a normal kindergarten, and volunteer to assist with paperwork/bureaucracy issues to get hands-on experience.

In which currency?

I am moving in August and wife will be working too,

Hello again. I checked a few sites from August last year and they had free places in creches/kindergartens in Katowice in 2018. So, there is hope. Currently, there is no such info for this year. the registration process hasn`t been finished yet.

Hmm, there are a lot of sites explaining how to set up a kindergarten. In Polish of course. But they claim it is not so difficult as it may seem.

E.g,
ifirma.pl/blog/poradnik-przedsiebiorcy/jak-zalozyc-przedszkole-krok-po-kroku.html

Are you a EU citizen? Then you have the same rights as a Polish one and such sites are for you , too.
