Merchant marine job advice for a Polish citizen (Poland or other countries)

I'm a Polish citizen currently living in Ireland and have been trying to start a career in the merchant navy. I don't have the education qualifications for Officer Cadetships so I am trying to find shipping companies that sponsor trainee ratings. Unfortunately, most of the ones in the UK and Ireland only take on cadets, and seem to draw their ratings directly from places like Eastern Europe or Asia.

If anyone here might have advice on the best way for a Polish national to find training to become a deck or engine rating, either in Poland or other countries, it would be a big help.

Dziękuję

the best way for a Polish national to find training

The only way I see now to get trained here in Poland (beside attending to a Maritime University) is to join a stationary training center. Check this site about possible marine courses and prices.

If you want omit this step, try to contact with Polish Steamship Company (Polsteam) - at present the greatest ship operator in Poland - about training/working possibilities over there.

The another big shipping company in Poland are the Polish Ocean Lines: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Ocean_Lines
