Going to be teaching English in Krakow Poland (Tefl certification); service advertizing, taxes

Hi.

So I'm going to be living in Poland for a year as a trial run to see if I want to live there permanantly. I'll be graduating with a degree from University and a Tefl certification to teach English overseas. I would most like to offer private lessons from my home/apartment like a tutor would. My first question is: How would I go about advertizing this prior to getting there, and as in the USA, how would I 'claim' this for taxes and such?

I'm also wondering how to go about selling artwork there. (Kraków)

Dziękuję bardzo!

You and everybody else would like to teach English in Kraków! Try a smaller city first, just to try it out. You'll probably have a much better shot there since as a foreigner (a NATIVE speaking English one at that!!), you'd tend to stand out, hence likely be hired, at least interviewed-:)

Indeed. If he wants to try being unemployed in Poland, Krakow is a great place to start.

Great. Thanks. That's exactly what I was aiming to do.

Don't come in Summer. Wait for September. As other posters have said, try a small city; Kraków is probably the worst place in Poland to look for your first EFL work.

Don't come in Summer. Wait for September.

A good point. In many places the teachers head off to Britain to work summer schools because the work drops off in Poland (try tefl.com)

summer schools

That's an idea. Perhaps KriKri should apply for a summer job in the UK. The money's pretty good. I did it for nine or ten summers before I got old and cranky.
