What is deducted from a salary in Poland apart from Income tax?

I think the first deduction is national insurance/social security, then they take the tax off that figure.

In my example the company will tell you that they will pay you 10 000 if you are a company/contractor. If you will be applicant for a job and they have the same 10 000 pln to spend on you, then you will hear from them 8300 pln - as it is so called "gross salary".

It's going to be about seven thousand a month. But I think you'll probably hit the upper tax bracket on that salary in November, which will mean in November and December you'll get more like six thousand.


It's certainly not 'good'; it's decent but not good. A well-equipped two-room flat in a good location is going to cost you at least 2,000zl a month (including bills). On that salary you'll be solidly middle class, but you will have to watch what you spend.

You are right. It's a F&A specialist position. The role it's a little bit higher than my current one.

Considering the 7.000,00 PLN as net, that would be roughly 200 € more than what I earn now in Italy. At this point I guess, it's more convenient not to move.

Depending on your lifestyle, Gdansk could be quite a bit less expensive than Italy (although it you like going out to drink wine, it will be more expensive). The weather will certainly be less enjoyable to what you're used to in Italy.


It's not good in terms of spending power; it's decent, but he's not going to be eating in the best restaurants in town every week or jetting off all over Europe.

I just hate recruiters when they make an offer and than give no info on the net salary. Especially when it's about to move to another country.

I insistently asked the recruiter a confirmation of the hints you provided me here and the answer I've got is this a payroll matter rather than selection, so she cannot say.

I am getting similar in Krakow, it can be okay depending on your lifestyle. I spend 1500-2000 for studio including bills 500-600 for food 600-700 for going out- alcohol and so on. 100-150 for fuel- if you use public transport with card I think around 100 pln you may spend. SO roughly, 2900-3500 will make you live normal but not much for extra things.

Note: I presume Katowice might be cheaper, so fellas who know Katowice can give better idea

I am currently working in India with a salary of Rupees 780000 Annually. Its around Rupees 65,000 per month (before tax). My company wants me to relocate to Poland for a project for next 2 years and offering me a salary of 7000pln (before tax) per month.

I need to relocate with my wife thus definitely need a separate apartment (can't share with anyone) for our stay in Poland.
I would like to visit few places in and around Europe during my stay.
Saving few money per month is also important.

Thus my questions are ---
1. Is this a decent offer 7000pln (before tax) for a person getting Rs 65000 in India. Are these equivalent amount considering the currency difference 1pln = Rs 17 ?

2. I am working as an Industry Analyst with a market research firm with 4 years of experience. What could be the expected salary in Poland for this level ?

3. What amount will be deducted from my salary for taxes and any other deductions ?

4. What could be the expenses for a couple per month ? What amount I would be able to save ?

That would be satisfactory, but not fantastic, if you were single, not so good if you were married, and not good at all if you have a child. The chances of your spouse finding work in Poland are essentially zero, so you will almost certainly be the only source of income.

Furthermore coming from the other side of the world to end up in ... Katowice!!!! I would demand a fortune to end up in Katowice.

Thanks for your response team. So it looks like very difficult to stay at poland with 5000 PLN. I am having 8 year of industry experience and i have demanded approx 11000 PLN inhand salary. So let see if they are going to pay or not. If not then i am not going to work there.

if i get work visa for poland which is a part of EU, am i eligible to move any other EU country for work ?

@Prahama: it's clear that you only want to come to Poland to move to other EU countries ;). Just realize that Polish work permit enables you only to work with ONE employer and only in Poland. In order to live and work in other EU countries, you need to have residence and work permits from the other countries.

Pitiful such attitude to exploit Poland and the Poles!

One day they will cotton on to that and stop issuing visas for non-Europeans. I do not believe (although I don't know) but any non-European is likely to be more exploited by their employer than a European.

@Prohama: Yes, a work permit is for a specific employer and for a specific job.

If for instance, you quit or get fired, and then you find another job, you'll need another work permit. If also for instance you work for a company and then within the same company, you get another job, then the employer has to apply for another work permit since other job (logical).

I believe that if you quit or get fired, you have to leave Poland within a given time since you are illegal.

Obviously, there are a lot of risks to accept jobs under such conditions so need to think it over before accepting. Also be aware that Poland is not opened to foreigners all the more when non white, non catholic and thus, you will not socially interact with a lot of Poles (if any).

And forget the idea of living and working abroad with your Polish docs, which are valid only in Poland.

To be honest, unless paid a real fortune, I would not accept such conditions. ;)

Yes, provided you live fairly modestly this is possible.

Savings are going to be pretty slim. If you are frugal, you MIGHT be able to save $1000 USD a month, at best, but it could be much less than that depending on how much you spend on euro trips and trips back to your home country.

If savings are a priority for you, then look for a job in one of the richer countries of the EU or one of the English speaking countries, where the amount you can SAVE can easily be more than you would EARN in Poland.

The main disadvantage of living in Poland is very low savings potential because wages are quite low and the cost of living relative to wages is high. This is especially true if you are going to be taking trips to Western Europe, which will be very expensive on your Polish wages, and/or to your home country.
