British-trained journalist in Poland - should i stay or should i go now? What are the life options here?

i am a half ghanaian, half gambian girl who did something stupid and fell in love with a polish guy whilst studying in leeds UK. i am back in ghana now, working as a producer for a well known TV station, but my polish beau wants me to come try out poland and hopefully settle there with our daughter. but i have apprehensions not the least of which is the daunting language and also the lack of career and from what i have seen on the forum so far, the paperwork will also be impressive.

so my question is: what are the life options fr a british-trained journalist in poland.....and don't say housewife, that just grates on my gender-activist nerves :)

any advice is welcome and i would welcome shared experiences from others who have made the move.

only Nigerians who want to become EU-citizens move to Poland after sham paid marriages to Polish females and most of them are not TV producers you would guess

jessijane your job sounds great and alot to give up, can't you persuade him to join you instead?

As an experienced journalist I can tell you one thing: stay away from Poland as its media market is the worst of all (at least 50 per cent unemployment rate). Your chances of finding a job here as a TV producer are close to nil. If I were your beau I'd certainly consider moving to your country.

Very,very limited most british journalists here are scrapping a living doing freelance work for Uk papers.

Your daughters place should be with both her parents. The question here is can your beau support you here in Poland?
Secondly if you studied in the UK it is highly likely your family has business interests, have you considered products/services which can be exchange between the two countries.

Dear all,

I am a Spanish journalist willing to work in Warsaw. I was there studying as a erasmus two years ago and I would like to come back for a longer stay. I am currently studying a master about European Journalism in Brussels but this city is not definately my place.

Does anyone know where could I look for something related to communication?
My level of Polish language is very basic but I am good in English and of course, my strong point is to be native Spanish speaker.

I am spanish too and an erasmus this year. Without polish it is useless to search for an educated job in this country. Try to study polish first here until you have a C1 at least since you must be working in a field that requires to be fluent in it. If not, try to teach Spanish at first as a job to get some easy money and then search for something in your field.

I am a nurse but the pay is so low here i have even't think of coming to live here. Making a decent living here is difficult. Try to compare wages, maybe Brussels has a lot more to offer than you think!!
