I'd like to know what is the salary I should expect for a business related researcher position in an international company. I hold Master and PhD in IT.
someone mentioned in another thread here that developers salary can ammount to 7000 zl - but it is hugely city-dependent as far as I know (you will earn most in Warszawa and perhaps Wroclaw as a software developer)
the thread was started by the Kiltmaker guy and it was quite recently
I wrote my post because I did not understand whether Kiltmaker held a M.S. + Ph.D. or not. But I think I got the idea: it seems that 7000 PLN gross is the average salary for a position like that.
The Kiltmaker guy has British MSc in Management and IT. And the Kiltmaker guy has just got an offer from Wroclaw to work for 7000 PLN Brutto as a Customer Service Rep for foreign customers for a global IT company.
But in general, he spent 11 months sending his CVs everywhere (directly to companies and via infopraca/pracuy.pl) just to get 2 offers - 1 in Krakow (too low salary, rejected), and another one in Wroclaw (above).
Both works are not very technical and do not require software development or IT infrastructure management skills at all. The main criteria for both jobs were: experience in international company, IT skills (basics), account management skills or consulting or sales, and knowledge of English + 1 another foreign language.
Question - I have my Masters in IT, MCSE, CCNA, CFOI, PMP, ITIL V3 and have been presented and offer in Poznan for 186,907.50 PLN before takes per year. I will also receive an expat package to include a car and partial housing assistance? As I have never lived in poland (Lived in Moscow, Minsk, Budapest, UAE and other locations) is this a fair contract?
Any guidance and direction you can provide would be a great help.
If these other IT guys are looking at offers of 7000 zl / month (84 000 / year) then I would think your 186 000 zl/year offer is a great one. ESPECIALLY considering you have a package including a car and partial housing. In Poland housing is (in my opinion) the most expensive part. I think you could quite live like a king on those wages....
I have been offered 15000 PLN gross/month in Krakow? after tax it would be around 11000 PLN. Is it a good salary? How much would be the rent for 1 bedroom studio apartment now near Krakow business park? or near by ?
Come on! Most Poles have to get by with some 2,000 ZL/month and you don't know whether you'll make it with more than 5 times more?????!!!! Get informed about Poland and Poles and you'll realize that your question can shock....
Always amazes me that the same old salary questions are asked AFTER a job offer. You would think that someone applying for a job would at least go to the effort of finding out what the average wage in Poland is BEFORE applying for a job.
If they can find PF, surely they can find sites with links to current wages......
>>>>>>>I have been offered 15000 PLN gross/month in Krakow? after tax it would be around 11000 PLN. Is it a good salary?
I too, find this question VERY INSENSITIVE, when this whole forum is littered with salary scales, earnings, flat costs and how people have to manage on one fifth of what you will have a month.
@Chemi and Terry! 100% yes! Such questions really amaze me and also shock me since I know Polish reality. Since I know Polish reality, I think such OPs should not be concerned about their salaries but rather about Polish reality. First of all, it is going to be very hard for them to find a Polish landlord/lady. In the West, it is already difficult for a "different looking" foreigner to rent accommodation so don't tell me in Poland, no problem to be expected because 100% false! Besides the renting thing, they should also be concerned about being stigmatized, being stared at/insulted.., about the weather.....
Poland being a closed society won't be easy for them and that it what they should be concerned about.
I don't understand who and for what would pay Indian guy (with zero knowledge of local language and business) 15k zloty. No Pole with the language and connections gets this kind of salary!
Sometimes large corporations have dealings with people who speak a language which requires speakers from other countries. It is a question of supply and demand.
What I find really strange, is that employment agencies find these candidates (concentrating on the financial side) and they will do everything so that the agency gets their 10 or 15 percent cut. They do not care about the candidate at all.
In Krakow I have seen at the most 10 people from the Indian Continent.
@Terri: I believe most of those jobs could be filled in by Poles. No need to import labor from so far away when so many Poles have to go abroad. Not fair to Poles, who should react.
Well it seems like these are technical IT jobs and evidently the Poles are either unable or unwilling to do them at this price. Of course it is not a conspiracy to keep Poles out of the market as these ads seem to relate to multiple companies in Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, even Lodz sometimes.
I have to say the whole Shared Service thing baffles me - they get huge grants from the EU or Polish govt to establish these centres which then employ foreigners.
@Angry: absolutely! Why not hiring Poles? I don't get it..
There's just not enough of them. It's well known that most Polish experts are either working in the biggest Polish companies (for example, in banks or for Allegro) or working abroad. So - they need to import labour from elsewhere (usually India) because the conditions on offer just aren't good enough for locals.
delphiandomine, Is 15k PLN not good enough for an IT job in Poland? Especially outside Warsaw. From my information that's an outstanding salary even by IT standards that any qualified Pole would right away jump on. Average salary for a Java developer is like 6-8k PLN I guess.
@Delph: even if no "big deal" in Western Europe, 3 or 4,000 euros is great money in Poland (even Warsaw, what % makes this much? ;))and I'm sure that a lof ot Polish guys/girls would accept to work for such money instead of leaving their homes, their families for far away places where they don't always feel comfortable. Strange that companies take Indians. Are Indians more "obedient" than Poles so they could put up with crap Poles would not? I don't know but as I am not naive and know that companies are no philanthropists, I think.....
Get informed about Poland and Poles and you'll realize that your question can shock....
Why should he care about that ? Apparently he's trying to figure out how much of it he could save... Let's say you got offered a job somewhere in the Gulf for EUR 50k a year... Now is it good money or not ? You need to know what are the costs of living there...
No Pole with the language and connections gets this kind of salary!
Huh ? 10, 12 or even 15k gross are nothing so unusual for senior specialists, I remember some thread (lost track of it somehow...) recently with a Danish guy claiming to be 25 years old and making 30k gross or something in 3 city, that was strange, but 10k a month is not... get a job at HQ of any mid-large company, push 1 level up from the bottom and that's it.
I believe most of those jobs could be filled in by Poles.
Well it seems like these are technical IT jobs and evidently the Poles are either unable or unwilling to do them at this price.
These are corpo jobs and corpos are ineffective by default, people at the bottom can't decide about anything and people at the top are out of touch with anything on the ground... In cases like this, I guess HR dept prepared requirements for the job and that includes let's say "3 years of experience in working with (insert some rare shyt, like some software that's unknown outside let's say a narrow circle of corporate credit risk modelling people)" and that's it, it doesn't matter that typical IT guy could learn it within 3 months and then work with it for half of that money. They need someone "with experience" and that's it and in case of niche things, there really might to be a problem to find someone available in Poland, while Indians, there's over a billion of them.
but 10k a month is not... get a job at HQ of any mid-large company, push 1 level up from the bottom and that's it.
10k might not be unusual (it's on the higher side though). But we are talking about 15k here which is 50% more. Now that kind of salary is huge even by corporation standards. Do you know someone who makes that kind of money? What do they do?
8 to 10k per month per million invested. Rental. Thats before capital gains. Not impossible but tough to make big money in Poland working for someone else.
1. It may just happen that for certain functions (communication with foreign clients) a native speaker is required and that's why the jobs are offered to those native speakers.
2. There may not be sufficient calibre of candidates with the required experience to fill advertised positions. 3. Everybody sells themselves on the labour market - it is just a question of money.
