It's a mystery to me how the real down-and-outs survive - the ones who drink themselves silly every day and who haven't seen a job for years. But then again - the problem is that a lot of them are unevictable from city-owned housing.

Just a little query. I am a foreigner who just got a job offer in Poland. The salary that is being offered is around USD2800 (after tax), which is just over PLN8000 / month. I just wanted to get an idea on what sort of salary category does this amount fall in? Would i be able to have a good standard of living in Poland and be able to save some as well? Or would it be hard to manager in this amount? Considering i dont know anyone in Poland, I would be much obliged if someone in here could provide me with some insight.

All depends on your lifestyle, but you could put quite of that away if you lived on the cheap.

Odd jobs don't go to foreigners, they go to Poles.

You certainly won't earn enough to cover living costs. As much as it pains me to say it, Milky is right - you'll only survive if you're prepared to tolerate truly awful living conditions.

As a guide, non-EU students can expect to earn about 5zl an hour working illegally unless you have a demonstrated, verifiable skill. A BA in electrical engineering isn't going to cut it.

Milky, it is difficult enough reading and understanding people's ways and reasons of posting on these forums.
You don't do yourself justice by making Poland out to be some kind of criminal country.
All I ask is that you try to find out the truth before jumping to conclusions.

Yes it does give you the right. But is your Polish fluent? If not, you're not going to get much work.

In Poland, Tipping is a city in China. bad career move, bud.

To be fair, automatic tipping for bar staff is rare outside the states and Canada. It's not just the Poles who don't do it.

In Europe, such courses are worthless.
