Tracking a package through the Polish Postal system sent from US

How are packages sent to Poland, via Federal Express, from the United States, handled by Polish Customs ?

If I send something FedEx, does it bypass Polish Customs completely ?

I sent a package to Poland, from the United States, via U.S. Express Mail, about 10 days ago. The cost $28.00 I only opted to send it via U.S. Express Mail, because I wanted to be sure my envelope was delivered, and that someone, in fact, signed for it.

They lady at the U.S. post office said it would be delivered within 5 business days. I still haven't received any confirmation (online) that my package (envelope) has been delivered. I understand that the U.S. Post Office doesn't really have any control over what happens to mail, once it enters another country.

I'm guessing.....the delivery is being delayed, because of a detour through Polish Customs. There was nothing of any value (to anyone else) inside my envelope. Just a letter, pictures and copies of old documents, from the year 1975.

Same way that any incoming mail from outside of the EU is handled. It may be x-rayed, opened or checked - I don't know how the Customs operate in Poland.

Nope, still has to clear Polish Customs, which is often the source of many delays.

Yes, quite normal and usual.

I sent a letter from the United States to Poland. I sent it U.S. Express, only because I wanted someone to sign for it. - Signature required. This way I know it was delivered.

I checked the U.S. Post office website, where it allows me to track the delivery. It indicates that delivery was attempted on March 3rd, 2010 I'm assuming nobody was home; probably still at work. The delivery attempt was at 4:31 PM.

What happens now ?

Do you think the Polish mail carrier left a note in the mailbox, telling them that they had a package that requires a signature ? Would the note ask someone to stop by the post office, to pick this package up ?

Also, I am wondering... If the Polish mail carrier would have left a note, what "other" information would he (or she) include with that note ?

Would the note say who the package was from ? The name of the person ?

Would the note include the address (and country of origin) of the sender ?

What are the normal post office hours in Poland, during the week and on Saturday ?

-- Thanks !!

Have you entered your tracking number into the Polish Post tracking site?

pocztex.pl/dokl_inf_telef.php

It might tell you if it's had an arrival scan in Poland.

In time the western world will stop dealing with them.

Poland is the only country in Europe that has a positive BNP-growth right now. That's an answer to you question. Who invests, and where?

People in Poland steal mail coming from the US all the time and it seams like it's getting worse

Why do they bother to go to church and holy communion on Sundays?! Holy s**t!

Ok, after reading all of this now I'm a bit freaked out. I know and have dealt with lots of crooked people here in PL (moved here from New York) but I have a really chill mailman. I've been getting packages all in tact from China, UK, and other. Now I'm expecting a Used Laptop as a "gift" and I'm worried about customs. Since it's marked USED and a GIFT with a value of $200.00, am I still going to get taxed up the butt?? I'm not worried so much about some weirdo stealing it as I am about the customs charges. Any ideas?? So far I've never had to pay customs on any items I've had sent to me but this is the first time someone's sending me electronics. :)

It's almost certain you'll get taxed - as I recall, the upper limit for VAT exemption on gifts is around 36 euro. So - expect a bill for around 23% of 600zl, plus administration charges.

My Russian (x)inlaws had plenty to say about post communist government corruption, that was then & in Ukraine.
I won't venture opinion yet about Poland other than I will say I have found their delivery extraordinary slow when sending things ordered in the country cross "counties". Overnight took a week. & Ouch they are expensive. I am trying my first US>Poland package soon. I can send stuff to my buddy living on economy in Germany for almost 50% less.

USPS gets media attention when things go wrong but as previous Rural Carrier I can tell you it is uncommon and the USPS is DRACONIAN in prevention and punishment

(edit) response made before realizing this is necromanced thread

Yes. They're better than they were, but a lot of things do still go missing. Always, but always, use registered post.

Merged: MAIL: USPS to Warszawa 00-499

Hi all,

My family had to mail an emergency item to my Polish office here in Warszawa. I do not speak any Polish, so I tried to call the USPS to find out who their Polish mail partner is. I had forgotten how unhelpful call centres could be in the US, but the woman was unable to give me that information and didn't even realize that the USPS most certainly does know that. Perhaps it's my fault for not simply checking first, but it turns out to be Poczta Polska. The tracking details are showing on Poczta Polska's website. The information given is:

"Przygotowanie przesyłki do doręczenia WER Warszawa"

My main queries are:

Does international express mail run on Saturdays? If so, what time(s)?
My USPS tracking shows that it arrived to my delivering post office tonight. Does that mean I could go to that post office tomorrow morning with ID, a printout of the tracking information, and the address and collect it in person? How do I find out which office is the delivery office for Warszawa 00-499?

My main concern is that I don't speak Polish and the office is on the fourth floor of a building without a lift. So when the deliveryperson rings the apartment from outside the building, I won't be able to tell him to just wait while I come down. Also, I hear Poczta Polska can be very lazy and may choose to leave very quickly without delivering the item (even Royal Mail and USPS are guilty of this). I just want to be able to contact the delivery postal office as soon as it opens tomorrow morning so that I can either grab my package or know approximately when to wait downstairs for the delivery.

Isn't Tbilisi the capital city of Georgia?

I don't know where are you checking the status of the parcel, but here:

tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction.action?tRef=fullpage&tLc=1&text28777=&tLabels=CV032964187US

it is written: "Tbilisi, Georgia", not "Tbilisi, US". What's more, there is quite a detailed description of what is happening with it now:

Your item departed a transfer airport in Novo Alexeyevka, Tbilisi, GEORGIA on February 8, 2015 at 6:18 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.

So you should ask the Georgia Post, what's up.

As far as I understand this tracking system, it was departed from the Tbilisi airport. So it must have already reached Georgia.

From the tracking it shows it was departed to Georgia in February 8th 2015 and since then package is not shown anywhere in system. Georgian post office never recieved anything, they checked everywhere. I red lots about Poland post office how much trouble they have with loosing packages, please, could you help and do research to solve this problem? It would be very much appreciated. Thank you

I am thinking if it was sent to a different destination, in one of the tracking web page it showed it was departed to Tbilisi United States thats why it made me think that something is wrong with destination. I sent packages before and it only took 8-10 business days and for this package already took a month which is obviously shows package did not arrive to Georgia and its somewhere in a wrong place.

Most of the packages that transit Poland i have to call always USPS post office to make them move from Poland to their way to Romania, when packages arrived in Romania my family told me they look they were open and taped with different color tape i was send it,the polish scum post office worker or worker in custom they tamper the packages and if they don't find nothing interesting to steal they will tape back the package and let them go,most of my packages were nothing tempting to steal as i send secondhand clothes, and this happen to get stuck in Poland 3 times, sometimes for 10 days sometimes for 5 days,if it happen to transit Austria always package get fast and in time to Romania and my package never appear to open it,every single time when transit Poland my packages apepar open it,i assume Austrian people are honest and they are not lazy workers,is hard for me to predict if my package transit Poland or Austria,i guess depending what plane catch it in NYC JFK,if it transit POLAND always nightmare start

This a example how fast go in transit if you're lucky to transit Austria but if transit Poland you better have nothing valuable in your pocket and you better have your items insured and be prepare to call USPS customer service and to investigate your package and if you're lucky it would move after stay stuck sometimes even 2 weeks in Warsaw customs, above are primary examples,if you send package and transit Poland, one package that transit Austria will get faster to Romania,if it transit Poland took 1 month to make it to Romania, and i have to do numerous phone calls to USPS to track my package to make it move from Poland, and all my packages that transit Poland arrived with scanner tracking number code damage on the box and scrap it ,i hope USPS take notice and don't do business with the corrupt Polish corrupt postal service,if not i will not take any chances to ship anymore with USPS,i don't want to gamble my packages transit Poland.
