There is no more primitve food than Mexican and yet it is very popular.

Polonius you are disparaging one of the most diverse cuisines in the world by calling it primitive. Gourmets the world over agree that the two countries in the world with the most varied regional cuisine are China and Mexico. Mexican food is among the world's best because it combines the three elements of taste: the sweet, the sour, and the savory in almost everyone of its dishes. Mexican food's staple the fresh corn tortilla is the most delicious starch one can find upon this earth far surpassing rice and bread in tastiness. I know from your other posts here that you are not from the Southwest and that you are an alarmist regarding Latino immigration but you shouldn't let xenophobia cloud your judgement regarding alimentary evaluation.

It's funny reading how Monia whines about people not liking Polish food.

I'm sorry Monia, but Mediterrean food is 100 times better than Polish food. It would be hilarious to have Americans vote for which food they prefer. The results would be shameful for the Polish side.

It would be hilarious to have Americans vote for which food they prefer. The results would be shameful for the Polish side.

Tahitian and Hawaian fish, Japanese sashimi and sushi, followed by my mom's Swedish meatballs (I know, mom should come first ;), Pakistani/Indian curry lamb, and everything inbetween. ...this week only, next week the ranking might change. :)

Polish food isn't the greatest in the world, only for Poles it is and reading through the posts, most of the Poles on here call others who don't like Polish food, trolls. You can't force tripe, czarnina or milk soup down someones throat because you think it's the greatest. Just get over it, not everyone likes Polish food in America. Calling someone a troll won't change the mind either.

Moderators, such as pigtx shouldn't be biased and call others trolls just because they express their view on the topic.

Maybe not the greatest but it can be pretty damn good. With the right marketing it could probably make a lot of money. It just takes a little creativity.

Some of it is really good. To me Polish food is either really tasty or really nasty, nothing in between.

This thread isn't about claiming Polish food is the best in the world. It makes the claim that Polish restaurants don't suceed in the USA and it has been proven false. This thread was started by a juvenile all of whose other threads have been anti-Polish/Polonia as well. Rebirth is solely here to disparage Poles/Polonia, and this being a Polish forum, he is a troll. You youself, uruszula, have complained about the lack of Polish respect for the law, supposing what you say is true, do you really expect such an irreverant people to be respectful towards trolls?

No, it has not. Polish restaurants are a ghost town in the state of Connecticut. One that I dined at a few times has gone out of business.

One Polish restaurant you've attended went out of business and you mistakenly believe that warrants a thread claiming that they all fail. Google "inductive reasoning" and realize your error. As for claiming Polish restaurants are a "ghost town" it is a poor metaphor because towns contain restaurants and thus comparing an empty restaurant to an empty town is maladroit, but it isw to be expected from an inferior troll such as yourself. With writing as gross and discardable as that you should change your moniker from "rebirth" to "afterbirth".

I remember when I hosted a married Polka in order to please me she prepared a polish salad after buying stuff in polish area(original polish).The result was a frozen thing causing instant vomit reflux.I thanked her and she ended eating the salad she had prepared in a bowl.When she offered me ''some salad?'' I said not now maybe later.

On the other hand a Ceska which I introduced to island and Balkan delicacies had told me that she hates fish she finds the taste awful.After gettng introduced to Greek fish she changed her opinion about how fish tastes completely and became a fan of fish.

That is why a Greek buying fish always asks ''is this from Greece?'' because everything else tastes way inferior.

Again: which cuisine from the same latitude is good? Russian? German? Dutch? English? Scottish? Even Belgian cuisine isn't great. It can't be good, since the choice of spices was low and people needed many calories, that's why all these cuisines use lots of meat. BUT: some of these countries excel in other parts: bread, sausages, cakes and sweets, beer or cookies for instance. All mediterranean countries suck at it.

There are very good greek sweats with syrup but difficult to prepare abroad.A lot depends on the way you make them.

I agree about cakes and sweets(which are also delicious in Germany) but I disagree about food.Czech and hungarian food tastes better than austrian and it is sth many tourists want to taste(it is considered an asset in these countries).

And what order these tourists in Czechia? Goulash, knedlik and a beer. Anything else? Maybe Svíèková and Vepřová peèeně, and that's about it. Go to Prague and you have problems to find a restaurant with Bohemian/Czech food these days, they all sell international cuisine. Hungarian cuisine is good, no doubt, but repetitive. Paprika, sour cream and meat. But they have great cakes, unlike the Czechs.

No, trust me, where Bohemian, Hungarian and German cuisine mixed, in Vienna, you find the most interesting cuisine. The goulash you usually associate with Czechia comes from Vienna for instance. And the Austrians know at least 7 different types of goulash... tourists just don't know this.

Who needs sausages on 40C, and cakes?

Pastry is excellent, btw, light.

I don't know anything about beers, so no comment about that.

Mediterran is associated with wine?

When I'm on holiday I usually eat where the locals eat, and while Baklava, Galakto... ehh, -something or Lokma (don't know the Greek name) are quite good, mediterranean countries just can't compete with the dairy farming countries of the north when it comes to sweets.

Galaktoboureko.There are only very few cukarne that make good galaktoboureko but in this case you lick your fingers.Ceske get crazy for galaktoboureko.

Kosmikon and Varsos make the best galaktoboureko in Athens.They even have fans in facebook.

Don`t make up stories , Southern , this behaviour puts you on the same level as rebirth, freebird the trolls who seem to be Indian or Pakistanian guys , who were rejected by Polish girls and now they post their comments only to incite feelings of hatred for everything what is Polish.

This is what I've found about it. It's up to you to determine whether you call it success or not. I'm sure, there are few more Polish restaurants scattered around the US but it doesn't seem to be many indeed, comparing to others anyway. It's not that I'm trying to lessen the importance of Polish cuisine, I just responded to your statement, that's all.

It's just not a particularly attractive food choice.

Perhaps someone brave (ie, not any of the usual suspects on PF) should take the chance and try and bring Polish food into the 21st century. Difficult, though - it's all meat and potato based, and very heavy.

Compared to Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and many other ethnic restaurants, Polish restaurants are relatively unknown. Why is this?

I think it's because Polish food stayed like it was in Poland and hasn't adapted to the American tastes. This 'Chinese' food is in reality Chinese-American in China they don't eat this stuff. Someone who's lived in Italy before told me he never saw this whole Italian water ice in Italy, or Italian sausage off the grill with onions.

Polish restaurants do well in Polish communities. The pierogi are bland, fattening no flavor and rarely spiced up. Most Polish people like bland food that's why Polish restaurants do good only with Polish communities. Mexican and Chinese tastes a lot better than Polish, has more kick to it.
