Renewing Polish Passport from the US - HELP!?

The consulate website is out or order or something (( chicago.msz.gov.pl// )) and the number I keep calling in Washington DC (( 202 234 3800 )) will not transfer me to anyone on any line I choose.

My fiancee needs to renew his Polish passport for travel this summer back to Poland with our 5 year old son, but is having difficulties in figuring out how to go about this.

Have called the consulate in Miami and they do not issue the passports, so do we have to travel to Chicago?

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!

I know for sure that they do issue temporary passports in Washington D.C a bit closer from Florida than Chicago.

Merged: Renewing Polish passport and obtaining an EU ID card in the U.S.

I've lived in the U.S. since 1999. My passport has expired some years back and I need to renew it. Does anyone know how to go about it? I know that one can go to the consulate and get a 1-year extension but I'd like a regular new passport. Also, is it possible to get an EU identification card while in the U.S.? I'm a Green Card holder seriously considering moving back to Europe and trying to get my affairs in order ahead of the move.

Thanks a lot for any help!

You need to go to a Polish embassy and can renew your Polish passport there. I don' think you can get an EU ID from the US though, but maybe I'm wrong :

You can renew your Polish passport in a Polish Embassy or Consulate[/url]. 10 years ago you could do it by mail, but nowadays you have to show up in person (for fingerprints).

A Polish ID you do in Poland. It takes up to one week even though they tell you that waiting time is 3 weeks. Just make sure you have meldunek ready. Also, if you got married in the USA, you have to register the marriage in a City Hall (Urzad Stanu Cywilnego), and it takes a few weeks.

Need some help with renewing a passport and pesel number

I was born in Poland in 1983 moved to the US in 91 and became a naturalized us citizen in 2002ish.
I still have my original polish passport and would like to renew it the fastest way possible for business ventures in Poland.
Also how do i get my PESEL number since i was about 8 when i left poland? Do i even have one?
Will going to Poland be the fastest way to obtain my new passport/documents? If so how much time should i expect this to take? Is there anything i can do here in the states to speed up the process? How about the temporary passport do i need my pesel number for that? Waiting here in the US 4 to 6 months like some do is not an option for me. Please help me Thanks

If you want to renew your passport in the US, you have to go to a Polish consulate or embassy IN PERSON in order to do it. If you renew your Polish passport in Poland, it will take about 3 weeks for it to be ready, and you need to pick it up in person.

I think your PESEL should be on your personal ID card... do you have any old ID cards from Poland? it might be on your passport.

Google PESEL: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PESEL

If you were born in 1983, you should have a PESEL. If you don't have a PESEL, you can apparently apply for one, and you need it before applying for a Polish passport. But since you already have a Polish passport (albeit outdated), it stands to reason that you also have a PESEL. It's 11 numbers long. Look at your old passport and try to find it. I am a natural born Polish citizen, born in Austria, and moved to the US when I was 2 years old, and I have a PESEL, so you definitely should have one.
