How can I figure out how much some books would cost to send from Krakow to west coast USA? The order site doesn't give the information unless the order is placed first and I don't want to be surprised by a huge cost for shipping. I tried to look at the Polish post office website, but it confused me as I don't understand that much Polish yet. The books would be sent in one package and would not weigh more than 5 lbs. or 2.3 kgs.

According to their website an economy package of up to 3kg should cost 68 złoty which today is somewhere between $23 to $25.

Here's the info in Polish from their website. Hope the language police here on PF won't erase this message... ;)

Merged: Cheaper Alternative to Shipping by USPS from the US to Poland?

I live in North Texas and have a friend who lives close to Poznan. I purchased some used books to send to him, but the USPS quoted me more than 3 times what I paid for the books to ship them. Is there a cheaper alternative? The books only cost me $13 and the USPS said the postage would be $41.25. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

UPS and Fedex are even more expensive. I shipped my things to Poland via USPA when I moved here because it was the least expensive way that I could find.
