Polish people/store/restaurants in Chicago

I saw someone else post this for their area and was curious what businesses are store are Polish in the Chicago area. I know there are lots of Polish people in Chicago and I would love to support the local polish businesses. I know of a couple that only speak Polish as well and I would love to be able to practice some or learn more from immersion. I would also be able to meet more Polish/Polish-Americans in the Chicago area which is a big reason why I moved to the Chicago area.

If anyone knows of good restaurants that serves traditional Polish food, or stores that sell traditional Polish items or treats I would love to know of them.

Twenty five years ago, there were tons of Polish shops and restaurants along Milwaukee in Avondale, but most of them are gone now as Polish people have spread out to other parts of the city and the suburbs. A few remain, though. As for restaurants, the Red Apple Buffet at 6474 N. Milwaukee is a good place to start. Andy's Deli at 5442 N. Milwaukee has great sausages of many different types. Kasia's Deli at 2101 W. Chicago is worth a visit, too.

Montrose deli also. Old Warsaw is a popular restaurant and looks nice inside but thr good isn't that good imo. Jolly inn which is close by has better food and is cheaper. There's also a few businesses and liquor stores owned by poles in Jefferson park esp near Copernicus center.

Oh Ya, Don't let the name fool you. It has to be the worst Polish Buffet in the world! I know a girl who was a waitress there, they recycle the food and has cockroaches.

I went there years ago and was it horrible....0 Stars!


This place is awesome, has the best Kopytka! As far as buffets are concerned it`s the best in Chicago. 4 Stars!

Czerwone Jablusko used to be decent but the quality has gone downhill, don't go to the one by Belmont/Milwaukee either. 2 1/2 Stars!

If you visit the Copernicus center theres a hidden little gem of a restaurant with babcia cooking in the kitchen.

Most the polish buffets are garbage esp okd warsaw. There was a pretty decent restaurant called Lutnia that served czech and polish food including items like duck blood soup ala czernina. There's a half decent one on Milwaukee in Niles but I forget thr name. Idk why so many pl restaurants went buffet style. I guess that was the thing in the 90s and 2000s but now generally buffets except for the pricey brunches at fancy hotels are generally considered low end and not very tasty.

Yea we moved out to the northern burbs too. Less taxes less crime far more republicans better schools no traffic - same reasons as why poles escaped the city esp once they had kids.

There a still poles on Belmont and there prollyalways will be but there's less and less now esp as more Hispanics move into those areas. They're hard working and contribute to the economy so I don't have anything against em. I work w Hispanics esp Mexicans and guatemalens everyday. No wonder blacks and lazy Americans say tge Mexicans are taking their jobs lol

The yukon gold mashed potatoes are worth going back for just alone! Wow! The Pork chops were very juicy and tasty as well:)

I give it 4 out of 5 stars, since Ive only feasted there once. Oh yeah, Do make reservations. They gave me a funny look and lousy table. lol

You dont need to go into Chicago anymore for Polish/stores restaurants. Most of them have all moved out to the NW Suburbs:)

This guy lived pretty close to me.. this dude literally sailed in a lil boat called free poland all around the world. His story is amazing.
