Marriage laws: dual citizenship (Polish and US) preparing to get married to an American.

Hello,

I am a polish girl about to get married to an American. I heard that if we get married in Poland first, we might have some problems with later marriage arrangements in US (we would like to have official weddings in both countries). Is it true? Also, if we get married first in US, do I need to apply for my green card streight away? We plan to live in US, but we wish to spend first few months after wedding travelling.

Thank you so much for any information.

Hey, I am Kenyan and my boyfriend is Polish. He is coming over to Kenya and we are getting married in a month's time. I am a student in the UK but as of now I am on a study break. My question is, when I am going back to the UK to finish my studies after marriage, will I apply as an EU or Kenyan citizen? Do I need a visa to travel to any EU country? Thank you.

I'd do the civil marriage in US, will be a lot easier for your bf (and you) as only your passport is needed in US. While in Poland, your BF will have to get originals, apostille, and translations of many documents. Apply for the Green card right away and if you want do it from outside US and use the waiting time to travel and the Polish wedding (register your marriage certificate with the apostille and translation on your Voivodeship, and do church wedding as you like). If you need any specific info let me know I've been through that recently.
