Tamara 9 | 202 31 May 2008 / #1Hi,I am wondering if members would be so kind to post the names of any Polish language newspapers that they know of in the US? I am interested primarily in those from the states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia. I tried a web search and it is difficult to determine if the mentioned papers are still in print and to find a source for the papers. You assistance will be greatly appreciated.Tamara
z_darius 14 | 3960 31 May 2008 / #2dziennik.com is probably the largest and best known. It can be bought or received (via subscription) all over North America.
OP Tamara 9 | 202 31 May 2008 / #3Thanks, I am interested in finding out more about smaller and "local" ones like Bialy Orzel.
Polonius3 980 | 12276 2 Jun 2008 / #4There used to be a number of Polish papers in Ohio. They included Monitor Clvelandzki and Polonia w Ameryce. The Cleveland Polonia's big daily wasWiadomości Codzienne, but it was the weekly Ameryka-Echo out of Toledo that was read nationwide. Probably the last such publication was the Związkowiec/Alliancer, official organ of the Cleveland-based Aliance of Poles (see below). When the Alliance merged with Chicago's PRCUA, the Związkowiec folded and it now exists only as an insert to the PRCUA organ Naród Polski.DEFUNCT 'Związkowiec/Alliancer'(Organ of the Alliance of Poles in America)6966 Broadway AvenueCleveland, OH 44105THE FOLLOWING IS A LIST OF THE MAIN POL-AM NEWSPAPERS NOW STILL APPEARING IN THE USA:Polish-American JournalMr Mark A. MichelleZ 26 Mar 2010 / #10If anyone knows of copies of the Gazeta Readingska, a Polish language weekly newspaper for the Polish people in Reading, Pennsylvania, I'd be very grateful if you would drop me an email at MRJ555 @ verizon.net. I'm looking for the years of 1920 to 1940. I've checked everywhere and it seems that no copies exist for the years I need.Thank you in advance,Michelle

Polonius3 980 | 12276 4 Apr 2010 / #12I believe none of these papers appear anymore with the possible exception of God's Field, a publication of the Scranton-based Polish National Catholic Church.Check it out at: chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn89008535/

AndrzejCzarny 28 Feb 2012 / #17I just stumbled across this site, while researching Polish papers in America. Don't know if it's still active, but in any case...I don't know about all the other papers listed earlier, but Detroit's two bilingual papers, Czas Polski (Polish Times) and Tygodnik Polski (Polish Weekly) are both publishing. They're subscription- and advertising-supported, and are struggling financially, but so far hanging in there. Neither paper publicly reveals its circulation/subscription figures, but my sense is that neither sells more than about 1,000 copies.CP comes out weekly, distributed at numerous sites in the metro area. Its website seems reasonably up-to-date. (Google it.)TP biweekly (formerly weekly...and a long time ago, daily), also widely distributed in print and is available online for a pay-per-issue basis. (Its free-access website is not not currentA.£.
PolishTVCompany - | 14 4 Feb 2013 / #19Nowy Dziennik and Super Express are most popular. I am in business I advertise among Polish people.
Wlodzimierz 4 | 539 7 Apr 2014 / #21Polonius, "Nowy Dziennik" has long since moved to Garfield, NJ (along with their great, convenient bookstore). Other than that, an exhaustive and useful list:-)The defunct "Polski Dzień" simply ran out of advertisers, plus there was the competition from Super Express, not to mention, Nowy Dziennik.I prefer "Rzeczpospolita" personally. Unfortunately however, it's not available readily, and so must be shipped from Poland (or, of course, read on-line).
