Hi everyone,
My boyfriend is Polish but has been living here in Ireland since 2005. I'm just about to finish my degree. He did his Masters in Poland and also did a 12month Postgraduate Degree here in Ireland. He has been working in a retail store for the last 3 years and since he is now finished college, he is trying to find some work in his field. Of course there are no jobs in Ireland at the moment and it will be the same for me when I finish this summer. So we've decided to go to Canada for a year and try our luck there and if at all possible get sponsorship for a longer term.
I have already been granted the visa through Ireland for Canada and paid my money. All along I persumed that it would be just as easy for him to get the work visa also. But now I'm beginning to freak out that maybe it isn't so easy. He is going home for Easter and will be handing in the application then.
He needs to apply through the Canadian Embassy in Warsaw. Is it just a case of having the right funds and not having a Police Record to gain this visa. Or is there more to it. It advertises itself on a 'first come, first served' basis so that had me thinking it wasn't too difficult. We will also make sure he has the funds of course.
The reason I'm freaking out a little is because he has already been refused a HOLIDAY visa to the states twice, even though I have family there and he had a letter from his job and college saying he would be returning. The reason he got refused on both occasions was not having enough money in his account and not having any family based in Ireland. (so there would be no reason for him to come back - never mind me his Irish girlfriend of almost 4 years)
So after that long winded explanation, I would just love to hear from someone that has been refused this visa and for what reasons and even moreso, I would love to hear stories of those that got the visa without difficulty and what the application process was like.
Thanks :)
