What do those colours indicate, man? US is mostly inhabitated by blue people? Give me a key, man.

look at the light green - blue color, you must have overlooked it. We call them African-American. It's specified here as African.

You're right; I was multi tasking and speed reading but that's no excuse.

That map still doesn't make much sense. Too many people are spread out throughout the U.S. and attempting to show the immense diversity of people in geographic areas doesn't work. Most Americans are mongrels anyway.

right but it's about most common ancestries in the USA, it doesn't say that there are no other people but the ones specified on that list. Where it shows Germans, it doesn't mean that there are no Irish or Polish and such.

I would say its a pretty accurate map

If they made an updated version, my state (city) would have every color in it:)

I fully agree with that 1 it's just that the most common doesn't necessarily mean that it's showing the very new development. I mean this site is from July 2008 but it shows our most common ancestors on this territory. To me personally it doesn't matter, Americans are Americans as long as they feel that way. I wouldn't make any difference between a Polish-American and a German-American

Is that most common ancestries by number or by percentage?

There seems a lot of blue, but somewhere like North Dakota looks huge on the map and somewhere like New Jersey looks small, but the populations are very different.

in general the highest number (I assume you mean the number of members of a certain national group, right?) guaranties the highest percentage too but if you mean something else please explain it.

for example let's say, the whole population is 10mln. and 5mln. of them are Germans so automatically we're talking about 50% of them are Germans etc...

State of (for example) North Mexiginia, 10 million inhabitants, 1 million (for example) Poles, 10%. State of Nevifornia, 2 million inhabitants, 1 million Poles, 50%.

I guess that's basically what they mean, the percentage according to the population. To be honest it doesn't really matter because we're all Americans. What it shows is only where our most common ancestors came from. Like I said, I love my people doesn't matter if they have Polish, Russian or German background but it's a known truth, most of us have a German background. When they voted for which language is going to be used in our country it's been only 1 vote more for English, otherwise we all would be speaking German right now.

absolutely not but they're just not the most common ancestors in our country.

There are several scarcely populated states. Another accurate figure is the Irish population in the New England area; there are supposedly more Irish there than in Ireland.

Me too, especially in New England, and Scots in the MidWest. That map shows only the first place - perhaps they were in second place in a lot of states.

Many Norwegians in Wisconsin. In my school you were either Norwegian or Polish.

I am American, but my ancestery is Polish, Irish, Brit, and Native. I am a collection of the best that humanity has to offer. I fear I may even be Immortal. My drinking ability is the stuff of legend.

Although I consider most of Europe to be inbred, I am willing to share my superior seed with European females under the right conditions. I would ask all ladies interested in calving a superior child to E-mail me a picture of yourself and place an initial bid (in USD) for my generous services. Its not about the money, I do this for the greater good.
