What if the Pole is married? Will their spouse also be on the fast track to citizenship? What about their children?

This question may be further expanded by: what if the fool gets killed. Will wifey still be eligible for "stuff"?

Will wifey still be eligible for "stuff"?

in fact, she will; legal help, money, medical benefits, lower taxes, a lot of really good "stuff"

sometimes, the "fool" is a woman. glad to tell you the "hubby" would get all the good "stuff" too

Thanks for the answer.
It does sound very encouraging to send people to be killed then.

A mercenary fights for money.

All US soldiers are paid a salary including free health benefits while they're in and money for college when they get out.

Polish citizens doing this, fight in return to get US citizenship. That is a business transaction and that makes them mercenaries.
The same goes for the 10.000 Poles in the French Foreign Legion. They also have a business contract with the French government.

no, it doesn't. there is nothing in therms of the benefits that the US military can give the families that can equalize the pain and anguish. That's why it's called a sacrifice, what all those men and women are doing, for an idea of a country that very few people outside the US would understand. And that's why we owe them respect, instead of calling them fools or mercenaries and making glib jokes.

The benefits are just a token. Obviously, a lot of people would rather forget about the sacrifice, and translate everything in terms of money and what they can get "out of the system."

Hmm, I didn't know they could become citizens by serving in the army. I knew they talked about that in the congress but didn't know it was made law. Is this entirely accurate or just conjecture?

You'd be surprised how far from the truth you are.
In fact the USA is one of few countries that that faced so few attacks on their soil. Two, to be exact. One almost 200 years ago, and another one (a tiny attack) about 10 years ago. So I'd say it is Americans who have little understanding of an idea of a country.

The US is the only country in the history of mankind that was established to be an empire. Being an empire entails continuous expansion and disregard for other nations. The US certainly has lived up to that ideal and sadly, continues doing so.

And that's why we owe them respect, instead of calling them fools or mercenaries and making glib jokes.

That agree with. Americans owe their troops, and some mercenaries, a lot of oil and other natural resources.

and we all know how empires end...

Americans owe their troops,

they do... you can see, they are thankful...

1993 was a mishap rather than an attack, but alright, make it 3.

no, as the "business transaction" as you call it, has nothing to do with the soldiers who have to follow their orders. If you call them mercenaries, then you need to call all soldiers that name too (including Polish soldiers of course).

No such thing as soldier in US anymore, don't kid yourself all are mercenaries, nothing more than a hired gun in service of a corporate interest.

You have to have a green card (the card is not really green, btw, it's more of a pinkish color...)

Have you actually ever seen one?It is green. As for the fast track to citizenship thru US army I don't think that would be a motivation for any green card (I like Permanent Resident Card better) holder to join.As Fuzz already said once permanent resident it is only a matter of time and willingness to become US citizen unless you do something really stupid.

Again you're giving false information. A green card is not green. Get the facts first before posting.

This is just what I was thinking. I thought it was party of that misguided Dream Act that failed.

Mine looks like this one.Green enough? Though I have to admit that my old conditional one looked like the one you posted.Interesting.I wonder if USCIS changed the look of PRC or what it depends on?
