Does anyone know if a Polish citizen with a valid US greencard can enter Canada for a 2 day visit or do they need a temporary visa of some kind? I checked the website and this is the information that was there but I just wanted to make sure.
Can Polish citizens with US greencard travel to Canada?
Sure they can. Greencard is like US passport (almost) - you can travel as if you were a US citizen. Especially to Canada.
Ok thanks, I thought that maybe they would have to have some sort of "mini" visa.

"mini visa":)(so USA!!!!!!)
listen - why don't you check with the Canadian authorities?

When I had US greencard I was a couple of times in Canada. So this could be confirmed without calling the authorities. You just cannot stay there over 1 year (otherwise, your greencard will be revoked).
I did check the website but just wanted to ask as sometimes people have stories to tell?

Hello,
I don't know, since I was never in your situation - meaning coming from the USA:)
All I know is that receantly the rules re crossing the border have been changed, due to security demands, especially on the USA side.

I know - that's why I was trying to find out. It's a little ways to drive to find out that he can't cross the border!

Can polish citizens enter Canada from the U.S with just a polish passport?
Yes.
As long as you have both the green card and a Polish passport you could travel any where you want.

No, as a Polish citizen you cant travel anywhere you want. The green card only allows entry back into the US. If you want to go to a country, you have to see if a visa is required for Polish Citizens. Canada allows visa free travel for up to 3 months
As Polish citizen you can travel to many countries anyway. Including countries that require visas from Americans.
yup, the latest i found was that you need a green card and you polish passport to re-enter usa. you can definitely just enter canada with a polish passport or just enter with your g-card.

yes just don't try to go to Poland and go back on a US green card on a flight thru Canada because that won't work. You would need a Canadian visa for that.
no visas needed for polish citizens to enter canada
Americans are odd sometimes.

Can i use a temporary green card to travel to Canada, is a visa needed?
What country you coming from? If from the US, you will need your conditional green card and a travel document ( to apply for a travel document you must fill out the I-131 form) allowing you to temporary leave the country and be able to come back. The I-551 form is your re-entry permit, but only if absent for less than a year

Yeah am coming from the US, but my passport was stamped with a one year temporary green card. So i still need to fill out the i-131 form?
immihelp/greencard/reentry-permit.html
Yes you do. You might be denied re-entry. It's a temporary card, a permanent green card doesn't need travel documents.
permamnent green card doesn't need travel documents
Not true. If you want to reenter the USA you will need your greencard as well as your passport. Otherwise they won't let you in.
^^^ hmm.. that is not what i have read or heard as of late.. but i'd think it would be prudent to bring one's pass with them anyway.

I don't know about crossing the land border between Canada and the USA, but I'm certain about flying into the US. Just went through it a few weeks ago when I came back from a business trip. They even fingerprinted and photographed me at the passport control, although I am a permanent resident and have a greencard.
