MY wife is moving the the US shortly and we will want to get her a drivers license. She has a valid Polish drivers license. can she submit it and thake the exam or does she need some kind of international driving permit?
Yes she can if she has legal status here atleast in the state of new jersey:) just look up the motor vehicle site they usually have point system.Oh! and...remember when they ask for points in Nj debit card has 1 or 2 points but our officials are very smart...if you tell them its a credit card they wont accept it but tell them its a debit card and they will agree for its points, idiots go by what you tell them..and good luck! and WELCOME TO AMERICA:)
In Pennsylvania, she can submit it, and I believe she would have to take the exam, but maybe not...She would have to check with the DMV in her state...I would advise getting the US state license, as it will lower her insurance rates significantly, and, in PA, you cannot title/register a car without a state DL.
Yes she can drive, but needs to take the exam and will do it, but was wondering if it is OK to drive on Polish license while she studies for the test. I drive on US license when I am in Poland
Yes she can make sure she gets an IDP(international driving permit) its iI think free in Poland and you if you drive in Poland without one they can hit you with driving without license IDP is a must now in Poland for us DL holders
Thanks for the info, I had this international drivers license in the past but no one asked for it and it expired. I will have her get it before she comes
She can drive on the Polish license, but the car she is driving must be insured, and registered, as cops ask for license, registration and insurance ID when they stop you...It also depends on the cops...Cops in the USA are simply tax collectors, and they are encouraged to write tickets for whatever town or state they work in, because this ticket revenue keeps useless bureaucrats employed...Same as Europe...Don't try to bribe cops here, however, as this isn't part of the culture generally...Most cops will give you a break with a foreign license, but like I say, make sure you have insurance & registration card.
Maybe get one of these to put on the bumper...It will help....If your wife get stopped, she can sweetly tell cop that you are a Mason, from a Polish lodge.
Yes I am US citizen living all my life in Ohio, so I know all about our cops. They are not very polite here. I don't know about Poland, I have not met one yet. She is getting the international driving permit and I will make sure she keeps all of the required documents with her in the car
Sure, she should be OK,,,I am an insurance agent here in PA...Check your auto policy and see if she is being penalized in terms of money for not having Ohio license...If they are not charging you extra money for having a driver with foreign/Int'l license on policy, don't sweat it...If they charge you an arm and a leg, have her get Ohio license...Good luck, and don't give cops an excuse to take your money...Sto Lat!
....If your wife get stopped, she can sweetly tell cop that you are a Mason
LOL,why not just donate some to local PBA and get a courtsey PBA card:)will save you lots of hassels or just sponsor some golf tournaments for local chiefs of police for charity:))might get you a PBA shield:)
Any Polish citizen in USA can use there driver license for 1 year ,after 1 year they can ask Penndot to provide translator for Polish lang. and take the test in PA.
