Although Britain above all aka Mrs.Thatcher quite a while back, was less than thrilled with the very real prospects of German reunification, I really don't think that Brexit will contribute to Germany, Poland, France etc.. all summarily exiting the EU in lockstep:-) Having said all that, Hungary just announced one in a series of anti-immigrant pieces of legislation, Merkel's in real danger of losing come 2017, and good ol' comfy, liberal Denmark has been starting to feel the pinch of Muslim immigration etc.. Still, those countries NEED the EU, as Britain herself could find over the course of the next ten years or so.

I DO think that the Brexit has begun to have a frightening backlash among foreign-born migrant workers in the UK, and this is something which PM May will have to seriously address, sooner rather than later which might well be too late!

I am off to the uk tomorrow. Will be terminating all business there and thanks to the crushed uk currency it will cost much less for the trip. All of this is pure assumption on your part. People who acquired the right of permanent residence under EU law will not be required to leave after Brexit, nor will they be forced to obtain British citizenship. That would be illegal. In a democratic society such as Britain it is not acceptable to retrospectively revoke peoples' rights. Changes in residence laws will only affect those who come to live in the UK post-Brexit or who haven't been there long enough pre-Brexit to acquire permanent residence. Also your assumption does not take into account those from countries outside the EU who have ILR (indefinite leave to remain). Britian will not create a two tier system, discriminating against EU citizens with permanent residence rights in the UK, whilst allowing those of other nationalities to remain.

I read in The Mail today that the Ministers have given their assurance that all EU citizens (at the date of formal Exit) will have the right to stay in the UK and they will not be asked to leave.

technically speaking, one needs to live in the UK for 6 years to be able to apply (and be granted) for British citizenship (excluding situation when they got married to the Brits etc).

After 5 years, one gets Pernament Residency (in the EU law system), or, IFL (in British laws). One needs to have it for 12 months to apply for citizenship.

And yeah, those who wish to remain pernamently should obtain UK citizenship- so they would have full voting rights and could participate in elections. plus, language test and "life in the uk" test ensures that they have at least basic knowledge of host' culture and tongue.

What I'm saying is,

If you have been here long enough to apply for British citizenship, then do it. You will have the same rights as ME!.

Other's from Poland who came to the UK gained citizenship and even voted out in Brexit, who knew!!. It is possible and you have options with citizenship. Why you would just want to reside is beyond me. I can guarantee, yes, you may as Brexit negotiations be given right to reside, but this country will bring some act out with some clause that states something against that and out side EU law you will not able to do anything about it.

So get citizenship if staying here matters so much.

I can understand people's anger at Brexit because it has steered the EU in a completely different direction, and with German complete control. With lots of refugees coming the future looks really bad for countries like Poland now so I can understand the anger.

I'm glad we had a Brexit and it came just at the right time.

My thoughts on all this:
1. It is very likely, that once GB is out of the EU, they will not have to abide by the rules of the EU. One of which states how many 'refugees' each country has to take in. Poland will be in the situation where they will be TOLD how many they should have otherwise they will have to pay a penalty for each one.

2. As people were lead to believe that they would have a choice where to work in the EU, some came to England with the intention of going back when they choose. Becoming a British citizen was not part of the equation as some have left families and roots still in Poland. Instead of just one person becoming GB citizen, the rest of the family would have to come and become British too.

3. On the other hand, Brexit will now lead to situations where some Poles working in GB will return to Poland, and the Polish unemployment percentage will increase. This is bad news for Poland. It is also bad as the income currently being sent back to Poland to families will cease. Polish families will therefore be entitled to benefits which Poland cannot afford.

Incase you haven't noticed poland still won't take the refugees. Brits exiting wont make any difference. Poland will still take none or tiny amount of refugees from the south. Obviously uk already has heaps before this. Obviously they will always get more. People returning to poland will will not make any difference to unemployment. There are already ukrainians and others fillung a million vacancies. It can be eeasily be stemmed to zero for a year or two. Some will go elsewhere and some will still remain. The extra taxes, expenditure on everyday items and the general benefit will move from the uk to there. Houses will go up in value in Poland. I wish may would get on with it I want to watch.

Forgot to mention...if you are there leave or change currency now for your cash. Before the pound goes on another happy fun slide ride.
