Poles 'failing to integrate in the UK'?

Can't agree enough. There is a lack of civic-mindedness amongst Poles in Poland. Their first and at times only reaction to proposals or ideas is: Co ja z tego będę miał? (What's in it for me?)

Did you know that Americans rank amongst the world's most civi-minded nations? I read somehwere a while back that more half of all Americans are involved in some type of charitable or volunteer activity including donating to worthwhile causes.

The one thing that springs to mind is firstly the beer may be cheap and it could also be a good place to network.

I lived in the UK for over 40 years and never set foot in a Polish club. Why would I want to hang about with 80 year olds?

Besides, going to Polish clubs means you do NOT integrate as they speak Polish there.

In the States the DPs didn't always integrate well with the Old Polonia. When the DPs became the Old Polonia, they didn't always integrate with the post-Solidarity emigres. Now the Solidarity-era earrivals are the Old Polonia and again the newcomers cannot or do not wish to fully integrate. That does not mean they start from scratch. No, they base muich of their shopping, religious worship and social life round existing Polonian infrastructure, although they also set up their own clubs and things.

This is true amongst most Poles, although there are some who are very charitable, having a foundation is very trendy these days in Poland !

You would expect more of the Poles who are/have working/ed overseas having experienced more civic-minded cultures, wish to grow as human beings instead of reproducing the 80's yuppie culture of recycled greed.

Merged: Why do Poles not integrate?

I am just wondering why Poles and other migrants from that part of Europe hate mixing with British locals? You try and start a conversation with them and they look at you with an angry face like we have put your cat in the microwave or something.

The Slovakians and Lithuanians are probably more ignorant and cold and I actually consider a couple of Polish people friends now but on the whole you are just so awkward.

They are just mirroring British reserve.

Well if it is me then it is every other British person as well because Poles seem to have a problem being civil to any native. I know you are here mainly for money but it must be quite depressing being so miserable all the time. Try and integrate and adapt to our culture a little bit, you might surprise yourself.

Your life must be quite miserable indeed if you go on the internet forum to cry about your personal problems.

What is your issue anyway? You seems to be on of those bored trolls who come here to harp on any given imaginary subject possible. Why don't you find yourself a different hobby? I'm sure nobody elected you as their spokesperson. Civility begets civility and rudeness begets rudeness.

It beggar belief such a miserable people are out there living among us.

Try and integrate and adapt to our culture a little bit, you might surprise yourself.

My dziadek came to England after the war and became about as working class British as you can imagine.

My wife came over to England in 2006 and embraced British culture (what there is of it that isn't negative) and speaks better English than quite a few natives I can think of.

Don't have a cry because someone from another country has griefed you, people from all countries have the potential to be insular when in a different country.

Good. Poles should just take money, pay their tax to England what belong to England and one day say Good-bye to it.

Of course, they would make some genetic in-print on it but, island would collapse anyway. Wheel of changes

The island state to which you refer is NOT called 'England'.
Educate yourself a bit before typing out your hate filled crap.

Crow lives in a little world of his own, where reality doesn't intrude upon his Slavic fantasy. It's a pity that he presents such a bad example of his country.

I agree

This seems very true

The island state to which you refer is NOT called 'England'.

He never referred to that island as England, he just stated to pay their tax to England and then leave the Island

Crow is a very wise man.

It's impossible to pay taxes to England.

I see you lack comprehension skills, obviously the government
is it impossible to pay taxes to the English government?

I see you lack comprehension skills,

I see you lack very basic knowledge about the UK.

is it impossible to pay taxes to the English government?

Yes, largely because there is no such thing.

I believe than any Pole who wants to fully integrate in the UK and get a British passport needs to pass an exam which covers exactly this kind of thing.

to be perfectly honest... it truly is about England, nobody cares or gives a flying ... about Wales or Scotlans.. N ireland is England in disguise.. everything is run by the Westminster Govt and London-lads.

as to the topic in question, I support the notion that it is not our country, we should integrate on the language level etc, but at the end of the day just protect your own community, just like the Indians are doing- caring for their cultural heritage and not selling it for some English one just to appease the locals.

Regards

That, that is great truth. We all see that, on island or outside of island and all suffer consequences of English domination.

The island state to which you refer is NOT called 'England'.

See, goofy_the_dog understood it.

It is same as if we means EU and say Germany. Exactly same like that. On islands, England rule.

We can easily conclude how England and Germany share their rule over rest of Europeans.

The majority of Poles coming to the UK settle permanently. Note the 20k Polish babies born per year. They will integrate.
My experience of Poles in London is that English is essential and with it comes integration.

Merged: Poles integrating in the UK

Must admit the Polish immigration to the UK really doesn't seem to be that much of a problem any more. I see them and hear them all the time in more and more everyday places. At the gym, mums and dads at the school drop offs and pick ups, in the supermarkets. Its almost a complete normality in my area. For the most part they are well accepted. The more ignorant people tend to sneer and look funny at them but i don't have problem at all. I really enjoy conversing with them, having a little chat about Poland, the food the culture etc.. I have made quite a few Polish friends to be honest. I might even go as far as to say I'm more comfortable around Poles than i am Brits. They're always surprised when i tell them i lived in Poland for almost 6 years. First question they ask is "what did you do"?
