Moving cost from UK to Poland (Gdansk) - Anyone heard of IMove International?

Hi there

I have received some quotes regarding our move from the UK to Gdansk and the one I just received today varies so much from the one I got the previously. IMove International are quoting £874.80 incl. VAT for a 40' container filled to capacity. Can this be correct or are they dodgy?

If anyone has any experience in costings and can recommend a removal company, please let me know.

Thanks
Jars

Wow could it be?? A Pole going back to Poland after getting a taste for the UK???

Surely not.. it's only one-way traffic :=D

Let me guess, you're a Brit???? Must be

That cant be right, i paid around £2,000 for a 40 ft container and another £1000 for half container a few years ago. Do you need that amount of space, theres plenty of guys driving to and from with Luton and transits vans that will do it for around £700.

Ive used Apolonia Trans before. Although i cant help on the costs of moving a container, as ive only moved a few bits of furniture.

Prices i was quoted was £20 for first parcel, up to 20kg, then £1 per Kg thereafter.

Hope that helps.

Why was my answer to this deleted???

Anyway, Pegasus is another company. over a certain limit the prcie goes down to £.90 per kg.

But the price for a container looks cheap. Is it using the new London-Wroclaw rail service?

It's comments like that, Hudson Hicks, that make it harder to have rational and sensible discussions about immigration. Thanks for taking the debate back a step.

As for your question, Jars, I'm afraid I don't know but I wish you luck in your move :-)

Hi guys

Wooohooo. What a lovely debate. :-)!

The guy from the company actually admited his error. He initially quoted me for 156 cu ft and not for a container. When I then asked him further questions he got himself confused and went from road to shipping. So he is now going away to check his pricing again. Haven't heard anything since. I don't need a container anyway but I think 156 cu ft might be a little tight even if I leave my corner sofa and white goods behind. I am only planning to take our king size bed incl. matress and possible a sofa bed + personal stuff etc. So nothing to fill an entire container! :-)

But maybe the new rail freight will make it slighly cheaper. Will get a quote from DB Schenker.

Thanks guys.... and I don't want to put any coles in the fire but I am acutally really excited about moving to Poland. So, no negative feelings here!

rail.dbschenker.pl/site/shared/en/file__attachements/information__material/stinnes/dbschenker__rail__polskafreight__rates.pdf

It seems to indicate that 2000km costs something north of 550PLN per tonne. Based on coal, that is.

Please tell us what they quote, would be useful to know.

Dont use IMOVE International ever. I used them here part of the emails:
"Yes it will stay on the truck until it is delivered..."
Untrue, because it does not stay on the truck until delivery, especial when Imove sells the customers good to another company which store the good in Manchester like it was in my case. IMOVE International lies to you very ever they can.

"You can use any credit card for payment apart from American express the surcharge for credit card payments is 2.2% on the total due"

Another unprofessional answer, because on the IMOVE International form they ask for 1.5%. They way they are trying to take more money!

IMOVE International is more than dodgy!!!!

Hi Everyone,

It looks like a lot o Poles are coming back to Poland after all.,we have come back from London after 15 years!
That was a good decision, it is god to be back where our hearts belongs, close to family and friends,
We had used kanguro that is a Polish based company who specialise in moving from UK to Poland.
Very honest, professional and simple relocation. Highly recommended.

Regards from Poland
Arek
