I willsmoke like a steam trainif they put me to the test ,andi dont even smoke lol.And doumeen if i stop at germany before uk or just like fly over germany ?

If you enter German territory with more than 800 cigarettes, you'll lose them if you're stopped - no exceptions.

As for UK customs stopping you - remember, they'll be looking for evidence that you're intending to sell them on. And they are a law unto themselves - if they decide to seize, you've no chance of winning an appeal.

We were always told that we are only able to bring back 1,000!

It might be different in Ireland - the EU only officially demands that people can import 800, but the UK went mental and decided that 3200 would be a sensible guideline.

Its not illegal?

It is, the EU ruled that you must personally import items - but if you're savvy about it, I'm sure it's not so difficult to have them sent in the post.

Even funnier is smoking a fag which would be met with ridicule amongst Afro-Americans. It would mean shooting him.

Ciggies are about 10.50 per packet here.

PLN10,90 for a packet of Camel in PL. Marlboros are more expensive, 11-something.

£6,99 for a packet of Camel in the UK (bought it last Thursday).

This is where the UKBA get away with cheating the UK public. You can tak as many cigarettes as you want within the EU and the burden of proof is on them So effectively, they have to prove u are selling, not u prove taht ur not selling. 3200 is a guideline. When I went home to the UK last time I took 50 cases of 200. Looka t the website nothingtodeclare.info. Those guys have taught me everything they know

Actually, the "guideline" has just been slashed to 800. And in EU law, there's only a 'right' to transport 800 - no more. Try taking more than 800 across the German border and see how far you get.

And anyone who thinks that the burden of proof is on Customs is having a laugh - they'll quite happily see you in court, or just wait until you crack under the pressure. There was that programme on a while ago about them - and they were catching people out in some very ingenious ways. Sure, you can challenge them - but they've got better lawyers and deeper pockets than you.

(best one being the twat who tried to take in 70kg of rolling tobacco, yet refused to roll one cigarette)

Sorry but all of those are very unusual in Poland. Would Marlboro be acceptable? They are everywhere.

Not sure to be honest. I'm pretty sure that I've seen Drum but Golden Virgina and Old Holbourne are not things that I can remember seeing.

Perhaps one of our Wroclaw members can help with regard to what is available in Wroclaw?

Sorry but ur wrong. 800 is still only a guideline and the only reason people end up in court is becuse they are intimidated by the UKBA and say the wrong thing. They are not even allowed to do random stop and searches unless they have received info that you may be using the cigs for a commercial purpose (please readf about the hoverspeed case - this overturns the 79 immigration act). Those idiots on that TV show were jumping into every trap laid down by the UKBA. I invite anyone to come here and buy a shitload and I will travel back with them and show how to deal with UKBA.

The UKBA have been taken to court twice by a friend of mine and on both occasions he has had his siezures overturned due to the UKBA's illegal practices.

it might or might not be. however, if u are going by car and get stopped at the german border i think u can say goodbye to your extra ciggies. there are enough warnings at the border-crossing shops, which sell drink and ciggies. in fact these shops won't even sell u more than 800.

And you think you could handle being stuck there for several hours while they use high pressure tactics on you?

It's one thing to talk about it on an internet forum, it's a whole different story when you've got people who will quite happily remind you of exactly what powers they have and what they don't have. Sure, they might not be allowed to do "random" searches - but they certainly have a look at everything that's coming in.

Sure, some of us would just sit there, say "no comment" to everything and leave it for a day in court. But most people will crack when confronted with an empty room, a tape recorder and an interrogation from someone in a uniform.

Wroclaw - for what it's worth, there's controls set up on the A16 from the Belgian border to Calais - they're forever pulling people in and seizing everything if they've got in excess of 800. No discussion about EU law, no debate - you've got more than 800, hand them over. Likewise with the Germans - at least in Frankfurt (Oder), they're almost always sat on the Stadtbruecke and checking bags.

i didn't. but i didn't get my radio (difference between a pink slip and a green one, if i recall) back either. at least they made it very difficult and beyond the expense i'd already paid. the uk bond store is/was at the opposite end of the country to me. they don't send things on... one has to have all the documentation and then go and get it.

Wroclaw - for what it's worth,

yes, i understand. we have spoken about it before.

The UKBA cannot demand that you open your bags, they cannot demand that you show them your passport. This is your property and, unless they arrest u, thye have no right to touch any of your stuff. Thye cannot arrest you without having had a tip off that you are selling.

We are orginising a fag cruise to france soon, its 30 quid each and we're all gonna bring back a good stock. Anyone wanna join us?

Its amazing how much the uniform can intimidate, post ppl just hand over their stuff to get out of there.

Read the hoverspeed case and you'll see that we allow UKBA to get away with muder.

IF UKBA sieze ppl cigs, its cos they allow them to. JUST SAY NO

I csan just see how well the 800 guidline works if u delphi are the average man

Yes, the Customs and Excise Management Act of 1979 no longer applies to anybody at all, which is why people who have 20kg of smack in their bags are now allowed to say "Fcck you copper! I ain't opening sht." when asked to open their bags.
