Hopefully you live in Bridgend and you'll make the news
Ouch! But funny!
Wales is a beautiful country, stunning scenery, mountains, beaches, woodland....a walker's paradise no less! Or it should be? But when i lived there I didn't dare walk anywhere alone, such was the hatred for the English! At least I didn't have to worry about getting raped there....unless I was careless enough to wear my lambs wool jacket!
The best thing about Wales?? Being able to leave it behind.... The worst thing about Wales? I have to go back there in 2 weeks :0(
Welsh are great. Been to both euro qualifier games of germany in cardiff and frankfurt. We had such a laugh and the singing competition about who hates the english more topped it all. Cant wait for the world cup qualifiers. same group again :) .....
They say that if you ironed Wales flat it would be bigger than England. I think that would only be true if all the fleeces of the sheep there were knitted into a new tract of land - you'd get a couple of new counties that way.
Are you sure there should be an "o" in counties in this context??!
Anyone in UK heard anything about Welsh in Wrexham attacking Poles?? I sort of half heard and half understood something on polish radio today about this. What's going on??
Right...I will avoid Wrexham then! Can it possibly be grimmer than Merthyr Tydfil? Where I lived (briefly) (near Merthyr Tydfil), gangs of little bike riding hoodies are running riot. Sadly I have to return to the area tomorrow- for a whole 2 months! Last time I was there the kids had raided my electric supply box, ripped out the earth wire for the few pennies worth of copper....the electric was LIVE! Sadly, none of them were electrocuted in the process. .....Shocking innit?!
I believe Wrexham is worse, but at least the thieving little bastards there might have electrocuted themselves. On the other hand, Cardiff is quite a nice place, as is much of the countryside - all three of the National Parks. Hay on Wye (I think it's just inside Wales) is quite a nice place, absolutely stuffed full of bookshops. If you go there, take plenty of money and a decent sized van.
For my part, i think they play rugby better than football...much better actually even if they are not total loosers at football, but they have better results in rugby ;) I'm waiting for the France - Wales...
Traditionally they were supposed to be very good at rugby. I don't know about nowadays, but then it's not really something I take much interest in. Rugby is better to watch than football.
Has anyone mentioned Welsh music yet? John Cale, Manic Street Preachers, McLusky, Super Furry Animals, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, Catatonia, Stereophonics, Melys, Llwybr Llaethog, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Goldie Lookin' Chain or Charlotte Church?
I hate all of it... except for the good ones.
Another question: Has anyone ever produced a Welsh - Polish dictionary?
Wales - Cymru: Gotta love the place. Coal, castles, rugby, er singing, and a language that looks like it might be harder to learn than Polish... Conway is my favourite town in Wales.
I SURVIVED WALES! And when i got home to poland i found this. (photo of Kalif at 6 days old, no welsh blood in there)...surely the best thing about wales is still leaving, which is FREE, but have you noticed you have to pay to get in?!
The puritanical streak in Wales caused the death of Welsh whisky. Is it really making a return? Welsh whisky seems not to have an 'e'.
Uisge-beatha, water of life (this is the Scottish Gaelic version) Makes it look so innocent, rather like the diminutive of water that Poles seem so familiar with.
I am Welsh and of course I think we are lovely. But obviously we cannot all be great, I've never dated a welshman yet and I'm only 43.
Sadly I haven't got the accent, I left when I was 3, my parents choice not mine.
We are a great Rugby nation and play it cos we love it not like the English who play it for the money. Don't forget we're the current 6 nations champions. I know cos I was there ;)
Cardiff is the most friendly city. Go into any pub, club, restaurant after a match and you'll be made welcome. Go to Twickenham on match day, see how nasty the comments are and I was spat on by some Englishmen so I've no plans to return.
As with any nation, we have good and bad amongst us.
