Do Polish People Litter their own country (just like they do in the UK)?

Grass, yes, that's included too. At times when we let the lawns grow longer, there was much to gather.

You could make a composter for your garden instead of throwing it away.

That's what my grandparents used to do :) They had a compost heap :)

Its weird - in towns they generally are litter free and people do try and put things in the bins though these are often overflowing, so it sometimes ends up "in and around". Certainly if you dropped litter in front of a Pole in the street he would probably comments and ask what you are doing.

But in the country, and especially near lakes I'm amazed at how people just dump beer cans and food wrappers everywhere - the unspoiled countryside and wildlife is one of the few things Poland can be really proud of, so to pollute it like that really shocks me.

Not sure of that.


Well excluding those who babecue and not clean up, there is a big problem with so called "dzikie wysypiska" (wild dumpings/skids). Ppl who want to save money or dont have money to pay for collecting garbage do that.

My family comes from area near Puszcza Kozienicka. Really beautifull place with fresh pinewood air, but if you go to the forest you will see lots of garbage (especially near roads). Its really sad.

The lack of litter is usually just a sign of wealth, the more wealthy the country/ part of town/ district the less litter you are gonna see on the streets...

I think some Poles are so indifferent that they wouldn't comment, cms.

There are plenty bins in the city. In the countryside, it is a matter for the local administration there.

Actually I could see that change happening - a few years ago you would need to stroll for 15-20 minutes through the city centre to find a litter bin. I'm talking about Zabrze here - if there was a litter bin it would have been destroyed by hooligans in a week after setting it. Because the city is getting wealthy there's:

a) too much new stuff for the hooligans to destroy efficiently
b) there are surveillance cameras in city centres
c) police and city guards are more efficient

Oh god yes, there are a number who do.

I live in Olsztyn and at the weekend or in the hot weather people often go to the lakes... and you can see the proof afterwards... broken beer bottles, paper, remains of barbeques, crisp packets... toilet paper and the substance it was used on (particularly popular in places like £eba and seaside resorts).

Drive/walk through the beautiful forests and there are piles of black bin bags full of rubbish, because someone didn't want to pay to have it taken away.

Part of the problem around lakes etc is the shortage of dustbins (although that wouldn't stop some people).

Of course, Britain also has a problem... when I lived in Milton, Glasgow, I used to run across fields and through a small wood. It was great in the morning or early evening because there was one point where there was a glittering, shining mass of thousands of beer cans... all left by generations of illicit boozers.

Actually, it was quite artistic, and a lot prettier than the piles of beach-goers poop that places like £eba have.

One Polish fisherman and his family and you think all Poles are like that? You should see the mess made in the state I live. It's like, some people think it's okay to be slobs, and there are a lot of people who think that way. It is gross when people do not properly dispose of their baby's diapers, or let their dog poop everywhere and not clean it up, like at the dog park. It's a common problem. I bet some Brits and Irish litter, too.

when is there going to be a law passed on picking up your dogs turd in Poland? That for me is worse than litter.

Ehm.. I think you can find "Dog turds" everywhere around the world...

WB's backyard is in Poland fcukwad.

The point being, there is dog crap where ever there are dogs. People don't always clean up. At the jog park I exercise at, some people have the little blue baggies on their hands and happily clean up after their dogs, while others just let the dog crap, shrug and walk away, sometimes right in the middle of the paved jogging trail so someone's foot can fall right on.

polish are dirty people inside and outside, hygiene means crap to them...even the polish bin men in the UK are themselves dirty and litter the place they are supposed to clean.

Of course there is, but in England you have little red dog pooh bins and for the most part people use them consistently. In Poland, well take a walk accross a park in a built up area and dont look down, i guarantee you'll be scraping turd upon turd from your shoes.

It really is a problem here, dont think ive ever seen a person pick up pooh after their dogs taken a number two.


In Poland they all let their dog pooh (dont even shrug their shoulders) but just walk off as if its the most normal thing in the world, hell it is normal in Poland.
