although I got a bit sick of the lack of trees and grass in the city centre after two weeks...
All you needed to do was take a 10 minute tram ride and you would have been at the largest municaple park in Europe :D Complete with 2 golf courses a putting range, boating lake and miles of open spaces - oh there's a little farm there too ;0) I agree there isnt a great deal of green space in the city centre, but you have to remember it was an industrial town (although at one time was just farm land - but progress is progress), the heart of the industrial revolution which made Britain very very rich!

Correct, best days work they ever did, they got rid of that horrid giant 70s shopping centre that looked like a huge tiled public toilet! And not one person killed...

Just always remember your brollie, I carry my 365 days of the year! Its mild and wet in the summer, cold and wet in the winter ;0)
And being told NOT to go to Moss side after eight o'clock at night.
Personally I wouldnt walk through there any time of the day.
