Polish Festivals/Exhibitions/Events in UK

Cheap phonecalls seemed to dominate the show.

There were a couple of other stands such as the chamber of commerce, various magazines and newspapers like Polish Express etc. There was also a sausage stall and a stall doing chimney cakes. That was pretty much it - it was in one of the smaller halls at Olympia, and really not worth £10.

Polish cultural week kicks off again in Belfast next month.

Anyone heard about the East European Festival in Nottingham next month... looks like a large Polish element to it...

The term East/Eastern European slag off Polish people and shows pure ignorance.
Everybody knows that these ******* with a thick accent predominantly came from Poland ( 90 % ), some are from Lithuania and Slovakia, but they still use such names in media and popularise in general.

Which countries will be represented at the festival?
A total of 13 Eastern European countries will be represented at the festival. These are: Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Estonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Ukraine and Russia.

All the countries, apart from the Ukraine, joined the European Union when it expanded in 2004 and 2007. (from the festival website)

Yes, there are going to be quite a few Polish themed events and activities at Bletchley Park as part of the "Enigma Recaptured" campaign.

By the way, is anyone aware of Polska! Year? There seems to be lots of noise about it in certain Polish circles, though sadly it doesn't seem to be making it into the more mainstream British media... a shame given that (from what I can gather), the aim of it is to promote Polish cuture in the UK.

That's interesting, though I have to say that is probably just a one-off. I don't get the impression that the people behind PY have too much of a clue as to how to market the event to British culture vulchers, even though a lot has been spent on creating the PY "brand".
