Polish Festivals/Exhibitions/Events in UK

I did have a (quick - cos I am working) look through Polonia UK but couldn't see anything so apologies if I am repeating a topic previously written about.

Just reading about Taste Of Polonia in Chicago (and wishing I had been there) I was wondering if there are any Polish festivals in the UK. Or does anyone know of any in the pipeline?

Thanks
PD :)

Thanks for the link, I just had a look. Sounds like it was fun and went down well yet I don't see any evidence on that site that it's happening this year (or has happened). I'll keep searching.

:)

Out of interest...

If there were to be a large Polish festival in the UK next summer maybe (like TOP perhaps) how many of you would attend?

I would consider it.

If festival means food and the UK means the southeast of England, then yes!

If festival means food

Polish food, yes, would be part of it.

and the UK means the southeast of England

No, most likely nowhere near.

Lerwick might be nice!
Or perhaps Lands End.

Some of us can't afford to go very far.

You're preaching to the converted.

However, I know the issues involved of people who wouldn't be able to come (a disinterest in Poland being one) but my question was general.

I was originally answering as one of the many on the forum who could answer.

But the issues of ability to travel to such an event, and of interest (whether by Polish people in the UK or non-Poles) are relevant. Many wouldn't have the time away from work, the money to get anywhere...

Yes, the point is, this would be a well advertised event, people would have time to arrange time off work and to put money aside for the event. It wouldn't be a surprise that it was happening.

Yes I think it would be. It's a pity that there's no festivals like this planned...hope for the future :)

Don't know if this will be of any interest (don't think it's quite a festival as such, I'm not sure) :

This is a link which describes the festival in London last year.

They were going to have one this year in Ealing, West London area but it got cancelled. ..... not sure why :o(

positivelypoland.com

Not really a festival, although there will be stands promoting Poland .... i believe there will be food stands,

Anyone planning to go this ?

Just checked the Positively Poland event ..... it should have been at Earl Court 16-18th November 2007, but has been re-scheduled for Spring 2008 !

Not really a festival,

It's more of an exhibition...but ought to be good.

And they're a bit vague on the new date.

But if they set a date I can manage I'll probably take the trip :)

the Positively Poland event

Has been rescheduled 16-18th May this year. Positively Poland. Anyone thinking of going?

Oh no! I'm washing my hair then!

pretend edit:
Just noticed the words 'cuisine' and the rather convenient word 'London'.
Can't see any reason why not.

That would take 3 minutes no? Rather than 3 days...

rather convenient word 'London'.

For you, yes. For me, no...although it is over a weekend...I'd like to see it but it might not be worth the journey. It is more of an exhibition than a festival but would probably be OK.

I couldn't see anything on the floorplan to say how the space would be used. It's not far for me to go, and if it's no good, there's plenty more to do in that part of the world.

Considering how much hair the average donkey has...
... give it 3 days.

I know. It just says sold etc. Maybe something else will be added nearer the time.

I think it will be good. I meant that it's a much longer journey for me if it's something that will only take half a day to view. I dunno. I'll think about it.

Don't you just wet it though and then shake off all the excess water? Three to six minutes max.

Hopefully they will start to say who has actually paid for any of these pitches. I imagine these things encourage more people to take up stalls if they know it's already going to be worth it - are other interesting things already going to be there? And so on.

True, but if it starts to look like it's packed full of loads of really fun things, you would consider London?

Go to your nearest equestrian centre and see how there is the ladies in riding gear playing with hoses. I always like to tell them they missed a bit.

Good point. All it really says is there will be exhibits of food, fashion etc, etc. I'll maybe email and see what they say. I reckon food would sell it for me! ;)

Would be good to know exactly what goes on there though.

Yeah. I would give it real consideration. I haven't been down to London for a long while.

How rude.

Can anyone be anywhere less than 100%?
I'm 50% in Swindon, 50% in Wroclaw!

Hmm - looks more like a 60-40 split.

It's still a consideration. I'll see.

Anyone in Scotland, or who will be, and is interested in art may like to see an exhibition by Miroslav Balka and may like to attend a talk on March 3rd.
